If you could only eat......

Post by VinnyBass »

images.jpeg
There are many types of food we all enjoy to eat such as Italian food, Mexican food, Japanese food, Indian food, Chinese food,
French food, Greek food, American food or.......maybe other type of foods not listed.

I always remember as a kid one time with a large family gathering at the house, all chowing down on lasagna my father asked me
what my favorite food was? Anticipating that I would say Italian, I guess I shocked him by saying Chinese food. I just really loved
Chinese food. I just wanted to be honest even though the lasagna my mother made was very delicious.

If you could pick just one of these food groups above or something not listed to eat exclusively for the next 6 months(making it a little
easier by not saying a lifetime) what group would you pick?

Vinny -- tough question! It's like asking, "who's your favorite child?" (haha). Currently, (and always subject to change) it's probably Asian cuisine for me. Vinny, I'm guessing Mexican might be one of your fav's... While dining at Mario's awhile back you and a lady friend grabbed the booth behind us. I was going to get up and say hi to y'all, but you guys left before I had the chance. (Recognized you from your posts!)

That’s funny. And after posting this I suddenly am very hungry….ha ha At the moment we are trying to decide if we’re going to go to Marios for lunch or Osaka. Both places rock!
That would’ve been fun to meet you…as a few times people have come up while we are eating and asked me if I’m VinnyBass and I say no I’m just Vince, but you could call me Vinny. :-)
We usually go Marios a few times a week, so if you ever see me come on over. I promise I won’t talk too much so your food won’t get cold.(Deb just laughed at me saying the part about me not talking too much?)
Take care and tight lines always

Can't pick just one, but agree with the Mediterranean....or American. But only under force by a totalitarian regime.....maybe.

Probably Southern French, since I only get one. Otherwise I'd add Italian too. Although that's pretty much all I eat now. :)

Can I add Thai food?

And Vietnamese?

And Indian?

Oh man, shouldn't answer this question close to dinner time.

Asian if that is an OK category. Thai if I have to get more specific although Korean, Japanese, Afghan, Vietnamese, Indian, Indonesian etc. are also very good. Italian, French, Spanish and Mexican are also very good. So nice to have the variety here in San Diego.

Worst food I have ever tasted was haggis in Scotland. Smells just like dog food.

WR -- wondering if you've ever tried this place? Hole in the wall, little closer to home, etc. but very good IMO. Celso, (the owner) is most welcoming...

If you’re talking El Cajon, the barrel on east main that’s been there forever has new owners and is fire.

I would say silvas especially for green salsa but I had a major let down on a surf n turf where they didn’t de vein the shrimp. Before that, it was pretty epic.

Rosaritos on old 80 is really good. They have some pretty good, off the wall creations.

If you’re ever in alpine, Alpine taco shop’s big mountain burrito is worth the drive. Carnitas, carne, pollo asado, rice, chipotle crema, pico, double wrapped. Served in a box because of how big and hefty.
Diego’s has a killer surf n turf.

A big THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has contributed to the post so far.
There are a lot of different types of foods and places to eat out there and great to hear of some of your favorites.
It looks like I may be gaining a few more pounds as I am always hungry after reading your comments. :-)
