Re: Fish recipes

Been cooking up the halibut caught last weekend. Just cooking in a pan with a little oil, putting it on a plate with soy sauce, tartar sauce or lemon juice on each forkful. Or tuna quesadillas.

But last night I was stuffed and still had a cooked piece. Mashed it up with a fork, added mayo, pepper ...

Re: Last fish of the year...and a few others

My last day of fishing (12/31/2023) was awesome. Landed 10 huge Bluegills in a couple of hours. I was pulling a 2" sinking twitchbait and for a while getting bit on every cast!

FINALLY! A couple of chonkies from the Gorge

Today was the day that I decided to try out a spot that I had scouted out back in February at Flaming Gorge. It's always trout season up here, but spring brings the smallies around the rock piles, and I have always wanted to catch a small mouth bass, especially seeing as how I miss the green bassies ...

Yamamoto craw!!!

I’m pretty happy with 3” and 4” Yamamoto craw. If you like rage craw give Yamamoto craw a try, same lot of action but last longer. I alway loose one craw after one or two bass with rage craw but not with Yamamoto.
As of now I tried with Ned head (recommend 1/10oz with medium rod), wobble head, free ...

Re: Fun Catches of 2025. Share yours...

I went through and picked out some of my favorites from the year. This was my second year back in the game after years out, and at times it felt a little foolish trying to do a bit of everything. It felt a bit like whack-a-mole trying to keep up with the surf, the lagoons, and freshwater but the ...

Nothing spectacular this year...
This one was notable because it was the first trip after a big medical issue....and was just happy to get back out there. A fat stocker from Tuff Campground, near Tom's Place, caught using a homemade spinner and some Oxford commas.

8/9- Miramar again

With anticipation of hopefully more topwater action, I headed back up to Lake Miramar this morning with 3 rods rigged with
topwater baits and one with a small jerk bait. The surface was pretty glassy when I arrived. Finally a few small bass stirring the top of the
water. Everyone knows that by the ...

Still going..

The V is still going! Did a short session on 8/13 from open till about 9:30. Ended up with 9 total. Mostly smaller fish but managed to find two fish over 3lbs. As has been the trend lately for me there, shallow cover was the key.

MURRAY 9/16

Float tubed Murray in the afternoon from 4pm to close. Fished against the tullies with some senkos, dropshot, and brush hogs for nothing… right before closing I caught one on a dimiki blade bait by the launch dock.

These are the moments I fish for..

Took a little trip down to my favorite body of water this morning, 9/10.

The conditions were kind of uncanny when I arrived at first light. Dead calm, overcast. Seems like an invitation to throw topwater, right? Wrong! Threw a variety of topwater baits and a few subsurface options with nary a bite ...

Back to Murray 9/11

After Labor Day, Miramar closed to watercraft(bummer...I was having fun up there), so I made a return back to Murray. After a couple trips I found that bass are still feeding on shad and there are some busting fish here and there at random times. I spent 95% of my timejust cruising around looking ...

Re: Still picking away at the "polluted" lake

In a "fake news" story on the local news, they referred to Lake Hodges as being closed to windsurfing because it was "polluted". This is not true in a number of ways including:
1. that is not the actual reason
2. it was never closed for pollution
3. it is not polluted
