Last fish of the year...and a few others

Post by tomnilll »

Well this year was quite a fishing adventure for me...right down to the very last day.  I just wanted to share a few pics from the end of the year and some of the bass from a few different places.  I am not trying to brag (maybe a little...) just wanted to share some of the more than 700 fish I caught in 2023 and a few of my lessons with you all...not that most of you need any advice!  How do I come up with that number, you ask??? Well I try to take a picture of every fish (just one) and I counted them.  All were catch and release (except one bluefin and some rockfish that just taste too good to let go), and I think I may have accidentally killed a few trout as well :(
I learned to try new lakes and now spots on old lakesI learned that what works today may not (likely will not) work tomorrowI learned that I don't re-tie my knots anywhere near often enoughI learned that fishing can be very aggravating, but is always better than working
Now for the eye candy.

Starting off with the last fish of the year on Dec. 31 at Doane pond on a small tube jig

And 2nd from last, a pretty one from off a bridge in Oceanside on the very same small tub jig

the rest are bass from mostly Hodges, but some from a couple of trips to Barrett

Enjoy 2024, hope you all have a great year and please do feel free to share back...I love to see OPF (other people's fish) too!

ImageI too got a few small trout at Doane the last week of the year. My first trout in probably 9 years or so. 700 fish is prolific!

My last day of fishing (12/31/2023) was awesome.  Landed 10 huge Bluegills in a couple of hours.  I was pulling a 2" sinking twitchbait and for a while getting bit on every cast!

Those are huge...I don't think I have ever caught a bluegill anywhere near that size...Great work!
