Storing gulp baits
Apologies if this has been covered already, but I didn’t find anything with the search. How is everyone storing their gulp baits? The bags always seem to leak. I have 6 bags of various saltwater baits in a freezer bag right now, and that bag is now full of stinky gulp juice. I pulled every bag out and cleaned them, checked for holes and leaks, made sure the zippers were closed, put them in a new freezer bag, and now that second bag is full of stinky gulp juice. Any secrets I’m not aware of?

Re: Storing gulp baits
I have a Plano bait locker that i store all the bags in. Has a rubber gasket on underside of lid and latches that really crank it down. That keeps the juice/stink in.
But when i’m surf fishing, i’ll grab the smallest tupperware we have and throw a handful of baits in there. Fits in the fanny pack real nice.

Re: Storing gulp baits
Pretty much any thing you use will leak after awhile if you are using it on the sand... Sand will destroy any seal you have and make the bait container leak... I use old prescription pill bottles, and after a couple of uses toss out in favor of a new one... They don't leak, a bottle will hold 1 pack of gulp worms, are compact and are free (I'm an old geezer and have plenty of prescription bottles
).. If you don't get the bottles, ask a friend or family member to save some for you.... I flip the lid over (reversible) and use the child proof device on the side to attach a small leash attached to my fishing vest..

Re: Storing gulp baits
Gulp juice can find holes in the space/time continuum; finding a way out of a ziploc bag is easy. The Plano bait locker gets good reviews. And like Butch, I use pill bottles for a daily ration...

Re: Storing gulp baits
I recently bought these for organizing soft plastics: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FR8WKYW?re ... tle_3&th=1
I haven't tried storing Gulp in them yet. They are much heavier duty than grocery store Ziploc bags.

Re: Storing gulp baits
I’ve reconstituted them. They’re like those old toys that expand in water! Probably not as effective as putting them back in the juice.

Re: Storing gulp baits
You can purchase a Gulp pint tub (has big baits) for storage and a Gulp jar (has tiny baits) for fishing use, they last forever and won't leak. I have some Gulp screw top tubs that are like 10-20 years old.
Any bag that gets old, or leaks, the baits go straight into the tub for a soak. I occasionally buy new Gulp bags or jars and pull singles from the tub for use as needed.
Google "Gulp Alive Angleworms" to see the jars.

Re: Storing gulp baits
I didn't know about those smaller jars, but like you i have the big tubs that have been on the shelf for years... The smaller bottles may not leak, but I think using them on the beach, they will get sand on the seals sooner or later, and that would probably cause them to leak... Just my guess.. That's why I use disable bottles...blackcloud9 wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 10:00 pm You can purchase a Gulp pint tub (has big baits) for storage and a Gulp jar (has tiny baits) for fishing use, they last forever and won't leak. Re: Storing gulp baits
drying them out then putting them back in the juice makes em a little tougher and stay on a baitholder hook longer

Re: Storing gulp baits
My 5-6 year old tubs of Gulp Sand Worms, that have been stewing in my hot ol’ garage for that long, are tougher than any of the freshly opened packs that I have bought.. Years ago Save-on Tackle in Santa Fe Springs, had a clearance on the big tubs, and I loaded up on them… So they may have already been old when I bought them… Heck, they might be over 10yrs old… I don’t know….spicy mayo wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 11:32 amdrying them out then putting them back in the juice makes em a little tougher and stay on a baitholder hook longer
