Re: Cut Braid?
If the captain tied it, it should be fine. If your nervous he tied it in a rush or don't trust the knot for some reason, bring it into a shop. If it is hollowcore braid, you can have it properly spliced. If it's not they'll check the knot and can retie it. What I would do depends on how deep the ...

Re: Cut Braid?
Replace. All be damned if I’m going to risk a weak spot on a $300-$1000 dollar trip, much less the fish of a lifetime. U
Keep the remaining line and spool it on a smaller reel or use it for backing on a spinning or fly reel.

Re: Poaching
That’s a loaded question because then it gets into judgment of character with people who don’t want or can’t buy a fishing license.
This is all my opinion. For the most part, people who have been purchasing licenses since they turned 16 or started fishing most likely have some sort of desire to ...

Jennings 6/9
First trip of the year. Went to Jennings around 6pm for catfish. Ended up catching a small bass and bluegill while waiting for night to come. Saw lots of small bass and bluegill in the water. As always had someone trying to fish 2 ft away.

Massachusetts Fishing
Hi everyone, I moved to Massachusetts a month ago and have been fishing a lot in my free time. I had heard people tell me that the inshore fishing here was good but I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I'm not even exaggerating, I think I've caught close to 200 striper since late August. I caught ...

Up date from our home in Kentucky
Big pond pic.png
We finally made the transition to becoming Kentucky residents!! Life is a little slower, laid back, and enjoying the country life.

Fishing up here in cowboyland
I sure miss the fishing in Southern California, especially the bass fishing. If you live in southwest Wyoming, bass fishing is pretty much not an option, unless you figure out how to target the smallmouth bass in Flaming Gorge (which I have not done, so far). But trout fishing is another story.
The ...

Re: What fish is this?
Bigscale Logperch were inadvertently introduced to CA in a shipment of sunfish to ponds on Beale AFB in Yuba County in 1953. The ponds were flooded and the fish were flushed into the Feather River. They have since made their way anywhere water from Northern CA is pumped.

Schooling a fish biologist with wiki links. Bravo
Pulled straight from Dill and Cordone (1997), History and status of introduced fishes in California 1871-1996 Fish Bulletin 178, but it could be misinformation...what do I know?
I was not contradicting anything you said, read my post again ...

Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023
We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow ...

Re: SAN DIEGO SHOCKED!: BASS ANGLER BAGS SALMON IN SAN DIEGO RIVER
In 2006 I landed a Coho at the mouth of SD Bay on a tube bait. Needless to say I was very surprised.

I wrote you all a holiday poem
Twas the day after Christmas and I headed out, with my trusty old float tube in search of a trout. Mist hung o're the lake in the crisp morning air, I pulled on my fins and kicked out with a flair.

FINALLY! A couple of chonkies from the Gorge
Today was the day that I decided to try out a spot that I had scouted out back in February at Flaming Gorge. It's always trout season up here, but spring brings the smallies around the rock piles, and I have always wanted to catch a small mouth bass, especially seeing as how I miss the green bassies ...

Sum sum summatime in the Uintas
After my joyful but brief success at catching my first smallmouth bass, I wasn't able to locate anymore, so it was back to catching trout. But as the weather warmed up, so did Flaming Gorge, bringing masses of sun and watersport seeking recreationalists out to the area.

Re: San Vicente shore fishing
I’ve never been to San Vicente before, does anyone that fish on shore know about how much shoreline access does San Vicente have?
Mweng1
San Vicente has a very limited shoreline access. Basically all you've got is the area around the dock and a short trail that you can use to get to the lake ...

Roncador's 2024 fishing slide show
Haven't done too much fishing this year at least locally. Anyways figured I'd share some photos with you all since I haven't posted here In a while. I find it rather difficult to upload photos on here so I made a little slide show to post.

A Slow Summer and Winter coming on up north
Early summer started off with a bang up in northern prairieland. The Uinta mountains offered up great trout fishing in June, and the Flaming Gorge still had some hungry trout near the shorelines. As summer wore on and the mountain lakes had their water drawn down for irrigation duty (and the creek ...

Mmmmm, brownies!
It was suppose to snow yesterday (Saturday)with a high of 36 degrees...but we wanted to go fishing anyway. So off to the lake we went, watching the swirling snow blow across the highway. By the time we hit the shoreline, just a few big flakes were falling out of the sky and the sun would be peeking ...

The weather heats up...or not, up north
After some snowy spring weather, we finally had a short spell of warm weather up here in Wyoming. But right away, we got cold rain and blustery winds. But I did a quick drive (or as quick as can humanly possible, anyway) up into the Uintas mountains and was delighted to find no snow anywhere except ...
