Big spottie, baby ray
Employee appreciation party at Tower Beach Club, I always have my gear in the truck so figured why not? Threw out some mussel meat on a Carolina rig just to see what happens. Bam! First ever stingray within 5 minutes. Did the same again, boom! Bent rod and got snapped off immediately. No idea what ...

Re: All these lagoons…
Yea it’s definitely about finding access to these places, which I have very little knowledge of and don’t want any angry Karen’s ruining my day! @JWall I have plenty of rooster tails since I do a lot of eastern sierra trout fishing. I just need to suck it up and get out to these lagoons. My ...

Little staycation
Stayed at Paradise Point for my GF’s birthday weekend. Got a nice room on the north cove and saw some of the crazy tide swings. Of course I had to bring my gear, luckily she is very understanding of my obsession 😂. Between outings and “ahem”’ other activities, I had morning, afternoon, and night ...

Re: Little staycation
The resort grounds are really beautiful, especially at night. It’s all very tropical and well maintained. Pricey though as to be expected. We had a bayside bungalow I believe, on north cove. Separate living and bedroom, small kitchenette with keurig, microwave, small fridge and freezer. Around $900 ...

Re: SD Bay Conditions?
My son and I fished SD bay yesterday from about 7am to 1030am. Started at the Bali Hai by the docks and scratched out 1 micro spottie, then drove to the harbor area and picked up a couple small kelp bass by Island Prime and behind Coasterra. Water was pretty clear and no smell. Only those 3 small ...

Fathers Day trifecta
My son and I got to the big bay around 615am. Started at the Bali Hai since I caught a nice Spottie there last time. Spent about 30 minutes and only managed to accidentally snag a baby grunt(?) at least I think it was, never caught one before and it was grunting like a pig. Moved over to the barge ...

Re: Any YFC anglers out there having success?
Off the dock below Bali Hai yesterday. It was hot and muggy down there, water was glass. Only fish I caught and I tossed that jig wayyyyyy out there and let it sink

That's a beauty!
Opposite side of Bali Hai when they had that smaller bait barge used to be a hot spot for croaker and corvina ...

Re: Pismo-Morro Bay Fishing
Check out Hook2Cook on Youtube. He's a central coast angler with a lot of good videos. I grew up in Santa Ynez and lived in the SLO/Pismo area for a number of years, I just wish I was more into fishing instead of partying back then, otherwise I'd have more advice for you!

Big Bay not good to me today
Hit my usual spots in the Big Bay today. Started at the Bali Hai around 7am, very low tide. All I scratched out was a snagged stingray. Snagged him right by the tail, too close for comfort but I stepped on his tail so he couldn’t zap me and luckily it came out easy. The barge at Coasterra where I ...

Eastern Sierras September trip
Overdue post.
Took my boy, who has now outgrown me, on our annual Sierras trip. Instead of the usual Tuttle Creek/Mt. Whitney camp out, decided to head farther north to Big Pine and Lower Sageflat campground to be in the trees, and it did not disappoint. Weather could not have been more perfect ...

Harbor Island/Fisherman’s Landing semi productive
Started at Coasterra after dropping off the GF at the airport. Picked up 1 short Hali first cast next to the barge on a bait my kid was using and he was not happy about it 😂. There was a guy in a tube doing the same thing and picking up shorts, maybe he’s on here and will see this, what’s up dude ...

Re: What a challenge 2/11
The CDFW App is pretty darn handy. Your current licenses are right there in the app, and you can even buy or renew through it. Your license will automatically populate in the app and they send you the hard copy in the mail. Pretty handy if you forget your paper license, just open the app and show it ...

Washed the skunk and new species
It's probably been 4 months since I caught a fish, but I've kept trying. Sunday I was using a slow pitch jig for not it's intended use, throwing it way out, letting it sink, then slowly dragging and popping off the bottom. Hooked up what I thought would be a small spotty or small hali, ended up ...

Grunion run tonight 3/29/25
I’m gonna head out to OB tonight and try to catch the predicted grunion run. I’ve tried a handful of times when I lived in Santa Ynez but never had any luck, and I’ve never tried in SD. Since my 4 month skunk got washed last weekend, maybe tonight is the night

**UPDATE**
The grunion were there! Not huge #'s, but plenty to have some fun and see an amazing display of nature! Pretty big wave power, the big washups seemed to have the most fish coming in. Put about a dozen in a bucket just to observe, used a few for live bait later, but they kept getting ...

Re: Double Digit Bass! 2 Bites, 2 Big fish
So just FYI, I took down the video from Youtube. I didn't realize at the time or when I posted that there are no longer boats allowed in Hidden Bay. It hasn't always been like that and the sign is in the middle of the bay and I was so focused on looking for fish I didn't see it. I am a rule ...

Shelter Island cuda fest
Got down by the Bali Hai before sunup, saw lots of bait busting on the surface from whatever was chasing it. Turned out to be barracuda everywhere. I caught 5 of the stinky, slimy things on an anchovy pattern jerk bait, maybe 20-22 inches. Even the lizard fish were biting the jerk bait. Got 2 ...

Re: Tidelands Sunday
[attachment=0]Osprey 2025 2.jpgI was out on Sunday as well. (Video is just coming out today) The ospreys are crazy! Not only did I have the one pull the fish out of my hand, but saw one rob a little kid of his trout at Lake Poway this week as he was pulling it out of the water. Not sure what's up ...
