Home pond picture.png So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of
Greetings all,
Having been a dedicated San Diego bass fisherman since the late '70s, I have finally escaped the beautiful Southern California weather for country life in Western Kentucky. We were able to close on a 25-acre, 4 ...

Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023
We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow ...

Re: Little staycation
Had to laugh. My boss gave me a GC for Ruth Chris last year for $50.00. I’m not sure if he knows that will get me a baked potato and an iced tea over there

Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?
Greetings all,
It's been a few months since I last posted. Kentucky country life is outstanding. It's nice you're able to fish and shoot on your property (the ranch) with zero repercussions (except scaring off a couple of the neighbor's cows).
I've stocked over 15 lbs of fathead minnows and 100 ...

Re: Missing the Southern Cal weather - sorta?
Very cool, I'm so jealous. Hope you get to stay warm. We just had a huge rainstorm and some parts of SD were literally under water. House with 4ft of water flooding into them... check out the news. I hope everyone on this forum is okay.

Sum sum summatime in the Uintas
After my joyful but brief success at catching my first smallmouth bass, I wasn't able to locate anymore, so it was back to catching trout. But as the weather warmed up, so did Flaming Gorge, bringing masses of sun and watersport seeking recreationalists out to the area.

Finally back to fishing and this site
I’d like to know a little bit more about the red tide and how long will the red tide last?
Is there a site that I can check that is up to date?
I fish mostly fish from shore on the bay, starting to get into surf fishing, I’m going to try Lake Murray this coming week, I’ll be going early morning ...

A Slow Summer and Winter coming on up north
Early summer started off with a bang up in northern prairieland. The Uinta mountains offered up great trout fishing in June, and the Flaming Gorge still had some hungry trout near the shorelines. As summer wore on and the mountain lakes had their water drawn down for irrigation duty (and the creek ...

Re: Fred Hall
Have lotta great memories of going to the show when it was in Del Mar for many years. Getting up there very early before they open, get in and get out of there before it got crazy crowded. Used to find some great deals…. but through the years it never was the same so I stopped going.

Somewhere in the land of a lake not far from Ramona lies a giant group of thousands of slimy green critters swimming around in a tight throng laughing their gills off at a solo human in a rubber lounge chair flailing about WAYYY above them with a stick and string in his hand and phony offerings ...

9/14- Return to the SD River
After picking up some dinks yesterday at Murray, I decided to try somewhere different this morning. With a slightly cooler weather forecast, I headed down to the San Diego river. Last time I was there was in early June and with no launch or permit fees...I figured what the heck. Not much was going ...

San V Mon 12/11
Slow day for me today. There was absolutely NO breeze today which made it really tough to get bit once the sun got high. Managed 3 early fish on Flukes with the biggest going 4.36. Best fish I’ve gotten out of there in a while. Caught it in about 6” of water busting shad. Definitely less fish in the ...

San V 3/30 Father/ son outing
My son came into town for the Easter weekend so we headed out into a rainy morning to see what we could find. Only three boats out there that I know of.
Headed to the scene of the crime of my last trip, Barona of course. Started the day out with a solid 3.7 on my third cast with a Senko. Picked up ...

6/6- Return to SD River
It's been about a month since I fished the SD River. A buddy who fishes the river often told me last night that he has caught only
one bass after 3 trips and his buddy got skunked yesterday. I figured what the heck.. and so for a change of pace I decided to fish
it for a few hours this morning ...

Otay, Murray, El Cap
Since I fish nearly everyday It'd get pretty darned boring seeing posts all the time so I cut back. Still, not wanting to see poor Vinny go into apoplectic withdrawals due to lack of fish porn here are a few pictures from last week's lakes.

poppers and crankbaits and jigs oh my! 6/25
I fished lake Murray this morning, and the water was so low that it was almost at the end of the boat ramp. On the plus side, I had the place almost all to myself (except for a few shore guys that arrived mid-morning).
