5/15 Cap not 1 fish
I didn't do any fishing. I went to check the level and the launch area. Here are some picks.

That is pretty darn sad but definitely appreciate you going out there and sharing some photos with us. I’ve done that at Murray and Miramar a few times were I didn’t fish but just went out to show the launch conditions or water levels, but at El cap it is absolutely disgusting. It’s just so unbelievable that this is happening. Anyway, thank you again and tight lines wherever you fish next.

Thanks for the pictures, they are helpful to avoid the drive to wade in the mud.

Pathetic.
I don't understand why they lowered that lake, not like the dam is the same style as Sutherland or Hodges.. the water isn't going to push over a mountain of rocks unless there is some sort of concrete barrier beneath it

Thanks for saving me a trip. I was going to drive up there to make sure it was a doable launch.
Looks like it is a the point were it will be getting worse on a progressive scale, due to the fact that that part of the lake it down to the old river bed?

Re: 5/15 Cap not 1 fish
So despite the pictures of the mud pits, we went yesterday anyway. Where near where we would normally launch is very squishy, and probably a good way to donate a shoe to the lake bottom. You have to go over to the point and then it's actually a bit steep, which is ok, going in, but a little more effort coming out.
Fishing was fun. The water is almost 70F and the 1-3 pounders are either on shore, or at most about 3 feet from shore, pressing the shad against the shore line. There's a lot of fish in that lake and not a lot of places for them to go. We didn't go to the bubbler, but got quite a few casting to shore and retrieving either parallel or perpendicular to the shoreline.
Have fun out there, while there's still some water in the lake.

I believe the lake is now being drained down to Murray to be used for drinking water! The dam was the original excuse to lower the lake! Draining all the lakes is what happens when the Mayor spends millions and millions on a couple miles of bike lanes and has nothing left to buy water! Be sure to thank your Mayor and City Council for all the bike lanes to nowhere that nobody uses!professionull wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 10:36 am Pathetic.

Yep, I read it's about $3,000,000 per mile of bike lane. How many miles of bike lanes would pay for a new dam?Mcfish wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 12:25 pmI believe the lake is now being drained down to Murray to be used for drinking water! It's hard to believe that a city and county with such a large tax base and high tax rates could still be running deficits.
I think that new island needs a name. Maybe Isla Todd Gloria? Democrat Island? I mean they did create it, didn't they?

I found out that Helix water shuts it off at noon to cut cost. Price goes way up if they run over 12 hours now.robert_smith wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 12:47 pm Hey d u know what the shit city is doing they r turned off the aerator at noon daily now to save money what a crock of shit these guys r so dumbI still got prob close to 30 before they turned the sob off
