Re: Can you reel faster than a bass swims?
I’ve wound down on fish throwing to the bank when they bolt for deep water. More times than I can remember, winding like my life depended on it and couldn’t come tight till the fish was far and deep.

Re: Can you reel faster than a bass swims?
Bass Ambush speed/aggression is indeed shocking.
This is probably obvious to everybody; From a boat, I almost always consider it a huge favor that bass tend to swim into deep water because it's typically away from hazards. From shore, it gives them an advantage a lot of the time, even if just ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
Fish Restocking at Loveland. Not on the horizon until Sweetwater Authority faces punitive action or sees it coming. I believe this makes sense. DFW will need a punitive decision on the case instigated by my CalEPA complaints and another person's complaint by CalEPA to demand fish restocking. CalEPA ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
The County Supervisors promised us that our closed days at the city lakes would reopen and they've done nothing to accomplish that! It's hard to believe that they will do any work towards fixing Loveland! They have a reputation for doing nothing for the City Lakes!!! Hodges and El Cap would not have ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
All CalEPA complaints and investigations have been closed.
They said "Better luck with DFW and the Forest Service easement".
The good thing that happened is that Waterboards confirmed that whatever water rights Sweetwater has, they are not mutually exclusive with our right to the Forest Service Land ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
I filed a CalEPA complaint against the State Water Resources Control Board for failing to act on my 2020 complaint warning that Sweetwater was going to violate its capture limits and trash Loveland.
It says right on the Sweetwater license that this regulatory agency, the SWRCB can make the ...

Lake Murray April 5, 2023
Murray bass .jpg The cold weather and water level fluctuating up and down has not helped the bass fishing at Lake Murray. It has been a tough bite with smaller fish as a reward after a lot of hard work recently. Good news as the action should be picking up now that we may be in for some warmer ...

Just a few from Santee while the site was down.
All caught on ikas, flukes, or senkos. The weather this winter has made the spring bite funky. Not getting as many bites as I usually get on reaction baits this time of year.

Murray 4/12-Brrrrrrrr!
Hit Murray with my kayak today as a cold front set in. The cool air blowing across the lake make me think like I was fishing on a cold February day...ha ha I did not have much success as I only caught a couple dinks on a small spoon and a small bass on an underspin and that was it. I had one other ...

Three little bass
First of all, thanks to whomever saw the need to start this new site! It is very much appreciated!

A spring day on San V...not!
I got to the lake at 6:15, under dark, cold, cloudy, drizzly skies..which pretty much remained that way for the next 6 hours!! The lake seems about a month behind with the unseasonably cold spring we're having! I ended the day with 14 fish, mostly small males which I hadn't planned on fishing for ...

Re: A spring day on San V...not!
Great to see you back on the waters of San V again and posting on this new site. It used to be McFish Mondays and I never had to worry about you dropping in to Murray and trying to take over some of my spots(ha, ha ...just kidding of course). I bet it was pretty cool out there on Monday, but ...
