Otay madness 4/16
Got on the water early and got to say hi to @robert_smith as he was heading out too. After a few minutes @Dfishin showed up and we hung out and fished together all morning.
It was a really productive day. I stopped counting at 20 fish but I'm guessing my total was over 30. I'm pretty sure Dave did even better than me. Nothing gigantic but quite a few in the mid and upper 2 lb. range. And they were fat and scrappy.
All of my fish came on BFS gear. Most were on a jig early but I switched over to a trick worm in the afternoon after the jig bite fell off. It was a blast, and great the see the other guys out there and catching fish too.

Re: Otay madness 4/16
I have not fished Otay since Flotation nation tube tourney. Fisheroman was just starting to tube fish. I think it was kind of stormy.
It was fun hanging with Dannicus. He is a fishing machine. Final broke out my tube to get ready for Barrett. We had a few doubles, fishing was good. I also lost count. Up in the 40's nothing landed the over 3.

I think you are the fishing machine man. You were putting on a fly line worm clinic out there!Dfishin wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 6:47 am I have not fished Otay since Flotation nation tube tourney. Fisheroman was just starting to tube fish. I think it was kind of stormy.

Exactly! Hardly new how to maneuver my tube! Got blown into the tulles and almost couldn't get out! Ended up dragging my tube out and walked back to my car carrying all my gear! Good memory, Dave!Dfishin wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 6:47 am Fisheroman was just starting to tube fish. I think it was kind of stormy.

Are you tossing light wire jigs? It seems it'd be hard to get penetration on a jig with BFS gear.

I/8 oz. Bitsy Bug with a TRD Bugz trailer. I get great hookups with it.DarkShadow wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 9:08 amAre you tossing light wire jigs? It seems it'd be hard to get penetration on a jig with BFS gear.

Re: Otay madness 4/16
Thought I might see you as I got on the water for the third time. Mentioned it to my Backseater that I’ve run across you the last two times I launched as you left. Anyway, couldn’t get the jerk bait working, but the top water was just fine. It seems every other week it switches Frogs and Buzz baits this time. Oh, poppers too. Nothing under 3 pounds. My prodigy got his PB this outing, a three pounder on a buzzbait. He was very excited.
