When did they realize they were hooked onto each other's line? When the lines came completely out of the water?
Almost as much fun as when 2 anglers on opposite sides of a party boat tangle. Since they aren't looking at each other, they never realize what is going on until a deckhand comes along ...

Re: An Otay kind of Sunday
How deep is the water at the edge of the tules?Dannicus wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 6:13 pm Water is still pretty green but clearing some. Water temp was 61 where I was.
Is the water just green or do you bring gobs of snotty algae back with every drag of the jig?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Morning or afternoon?
Morning, 1st light if possible. Easier parking, fish before the afternoon boat traffic, mostly beat the wind. Even on a slow day and small tide swing, often will pick up a few 1st thing in the morning, especially if it isn't cloudy.
Doesn't seem to be any advantage to getting out before 1st light ...

Re: 3/26 SD River
You might have to get that junebug tattoo after all.
So what is your favorite junebug lure? Worm, craw, Brush Hog, Senko....?
Mostly Tokyo rig or others too?
Spill the secrets.

Re: 3/26 SD River
Admittedly, it is more fun to catch fish with jarring strikes on crankbaits, spinner baits or top waters than crawling and shaking soft plastics on the bottom trying to entice inactive fish. For the way I fish (float tube), I don't cover enough area to only target active fish and do well so it is ...

Re: 3/26 SD River
I use a net and fish gripper pliers to handle the fish and then remove the hooks with long needle nose pliers. I usually use 6 lb line so the larger fish are tired by the time I get them to the net so they don't flop around in my lap like a fresh fish. I have yet to hook myself past the barb and ...

Re: FOUND rod and reel set up
I lost a nice Curado baitcaster and Phenix Maxim rod off Bayside park about 10 years ago in the grass in about 4' of water (depending on tide level). Went back to the spot and spent way too much time trying to find it. Undoubtedly covered with barnacles by now. It's yours to keep.

Re: FOUND rod and reel set up
It had a Spirex reel on it with a broken bail spring and a cheap rod. I took the reel apart, cleaned it up and tried to fix it but the another spring shot off and I couldn't find it. At that time, I did not know where to get replacement springs plus it had some corrosion inside so I tossed it. I ...

Re: Rule or reg to wear red/orange on tube?
Never once been questioned about colors on a float tube. Or whistle, life preserver or distance to shore. I have been stopped for license check twice while on the tube.

Re: Spotted Bay Bass Fishing Tips
That says it all, great job thanks for all your work it must have taken awhile.
I just kept notes for a few years. I find that if I write down what I know about a subject (fishing related or not) or teach it to someone else , I get much better at it as it forces me to think thru what I know and ...

Re: San Diego mayor proposes cuts to lake access in budget plan
A lot of the lakes already have iron rangers or automated kiosks. Only the city would argue they save money by not collecting money.
Is there any sort of detailed accounting report for the lakes?

Re: Why post fake reports?
This is the 1st year in a while that I have gotten tickets for June (was out of town for the May signup). Hope to do well. Most years I only fish July and August and am stuck with a measly 20-40 bass but at least the lake isn't crowded once the air temperature hits 100F. I am a dawn to dusk angler ...

Can you make some videos about getting skunked at Barrett? That's what we really need. Tickets sell out way too fast. You can leave the beer in.

Re: Do you count your fish?
You don't have to be competing to count fish. I like knowing how many I catch in any situation. I will often fish new lures or techniques regardless of the count just to see what works since that is how one gets better. And I count fish no matter whether I am fishing with others or alone. But you ...

Re: What type of float tubes are allowed?
Depends on who "they" is. Never heard of the lake authorities caring. Some fishermen frown on anyone, especially the ones doing better than they are.

Re: Probably a dumb jig question.
If you fish a jig on the bottom, you are going to get even more moss than the dropshot. You say you are using a lot of rigs, you should fish weedless drop shot using either an offset hook or a fiber guard hook made for drop shot. I use a split shot for a sinker or a walking sinker, those catch less ...
