An Otay kind of Sunday

Post by Dannicus »

Pretty nice day today at Otay. Ended up with an even dozen. Nothing huge, but healthy, fat, little footballs, and a lot of fun none the less.

All fish were caught on a 1/8th oz. Bitsy Bug jig with a green pumpkin Z-Man TRD bugz trailer. I was casting the edge of the tules and dragging it back to 10 feet of water. Most of the bites came on the fall or bottom twitches in said tules.

It was a sunny, beautiful spring day. Topwater is likely just around the corner boys!

I saw @otaymichael getting on the water just as I was leaving. I'll look forward to his report to see how he fared. He said he was heading to Harvey arm.

Good seeing you as we headed out.
Did better a couple of weeks ago actually. Stuck with the reaction bait and the report was the day before there was a lot more happening. I’ll take a few over not going at all huh? Water got up to 67° in the back.

As much as you fish, SD City Lakes should offer a Annual Pass. Way to keep getting after it!!
Thanks for all the posts=D

How deep is the water at the edge of the tules?
Is the water just green or do you bring gobs of snotty algae back with every drag of the jig?
Thanks in advance.

I wasn't bringing back too much elephant snot but I fish light (1/8 oz ) jigs. Water depth at the tules is dependant on what tules you are fishing. I found a range of 3-15 feet at the edge. I caught them in all depths.
