Hilarious. Where's all the yokels though?
Better hope Edna doesn't go on sdfish, she will hunt you down. Nice catch.

Re: San Diego Bay Fishing: I Found Them!
FYI, an easy way to make underspins and other baits weedless is to add a jig spinner which also adds extra flash. They were hammering the underspin with it a few weeks ago for me. Add a swivel about 12-24" before it and that will catch most of the dead grass too.

Re: Coronado Cays after the storm, yuck
Another inexpensive swinging jig head option is to use a Cheburashka sinker and the hook of your choice. Nice thing about this is that you can use a finer wire hook which gives more hookups and a better float to a Zman Ned bait than a thick wire hook found on most swinging jig heads.

Re: San Diego Bay Fishing: I Found Them!
Excellent effort and tips as always! Had a big smile as you enjoyed the rain. Clearly you were a happy baby 😂👍
I love fishing in the rain! I was warm and dry (except for hands and face, though I do have some nice neoprene gloves) and catching fish. What more could I ask for.

Best color is a clear choice
Saw large schools of 2" slough anchovies in the harbor I was fishing in today. The clear curly tail grub worked better than anything else I tried (full disclosure: did not try a junebug craw though). I used the same lure as 2 weeks ago when I got the 26.8 lb halibut, lure shown below for reference ...

Re: What a challenge 2/11
Get a pair of keeper straps like https://www.amazon.com/Kicker-Keepers-Tether-Outcast-Sporting/dp/B00EU8RD6M or make your own. I had a buddy tell me to do that when I 1st started tubing, he said it was awful when you lose a fin. Never had a fin come loose yet though.

Re: Wild SD Trout- Report
Looks like a lot of work to get there.
Didn't see any poison oak but it's winter time too. I have been along a few streams (while hiking or biking) that are supposed to have wild trout and they have lots of poison oak.

Re: PSA - Otay closed for algae bloom 2/19
I wonder if it is a nutrient abundance thing from the ash from the fires? Just a thought. Thanks for letting us know about the tourney move as well. How big is that tourney? I know there is another there that day as well.
Algae blooms are usually from excess phosphates and nitrates, typically ...

Re: Carp spots in San diego
I don't know if they still do but Santee Lakes would give a free pass for every 5 carp turned in.
Although it is illegal, chumming with corn works and the odds of being ticketed are close to 0. I certainly won't turn you in.

Where are those quagga mussels when we need them? I thought they were supposed to suck up all the nutrients and algae.

Quaggas (and soon to be golden mussels) actually make cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) blooms worse.

Re: Kayak appearal
I am not a kayaker but don't use cotton for any activity where you might get wet or even sweaty otherwise you will basically be wearing a giant, heavy, wet dish rag.
Wool and most synthetic fabrics dry fast, the thinner, the faster drying. Choose SPF50 to protect from the sun.

Re: Kayak appearal
If you are kayaking in the bay, it never gets that cold or hot there. When I have done some evening social kayaking in the bay, I would just wear nylon shorts, beach shoes, synthetic thin socks, a cycling jersey and packable waterproof windbreaker as a top. Never bought anything to wear specifically ...

Re: How is March in the bays?
February and January was red hot in South San Diego Bay, had several days from the float tube with >50 fish, one day with 90. Has slowed down a lot, would expect to catch 10-20 spotties if I went out. I am not fishing this weekend or next (other things going on) but if I was, I would probably fish ...

Re: "Stalking" Day at Probation
When did they realize they were hooked onto each other's line? When the lines came completely out of the water?
