Seems like ages since I been out in my boat so I decided to make the short trip to Murray this morning. Weather was a little cooler and it was refreshing. @Mcfish says I need to keep things short so I will try but no promises. Fished in deep water only and had 3 bass come unbuttoned on the jump, tried to sling a bass into the boat and he came off and broke off what I think was a nice bass down deep in the trees they put in the lake for structure. The good news is that I ended up landing 9 bass with the top bass being 6.50 lbs. Because someone will ask, I caught that bass on a plastic worm and the 8 others on various reaction baits like spoons and blade type baits. There only was a few busters but always out of casting range. Those bass
are smart...ha ha
I’d love to see the series of photos where the bass and thus Vinnie’s smile gets bigger and bigger with each one. I could feel the smile on that 6 pounder!
Your 6lb curse must of faded away...that's a beauty! We need to get you a gym membership so you can lift those pigs! I just read a fish report saying Murray is tough right now...did you not read the reports???

Bucket Mouth for sure. I would love to see that fish pre spawn.
Way to show off your deep water skills.
Are the schools of shad showing deep in the lake?
I know and have seen the concrete pipes and block piles, but when did they sink the trees.
The shad are spread out a lot more now, but
every so often you can find a big school of them
if you search long enough. All those pipes and block piles are still there(took lots of pics in 1978 when the water was so low that 90% of them were exposed) but lots of grass and weeds have covered a lot of them. Anyway...years ago they dumped some trees in the water off a few areas. I actually saw them dumpsome off San Carlos point in a few ares and then last year I was at the lake and for over 2 hours(just while I was fishing in viewing range) they went back and forth in a big flat deck type boat and dumbed trees with cement I believe as anchors off Cowles point. Then over at Del Cerro Point and in a line towards that far fence just past Cast Cove. I was amazed how many trips they were making. If you work slowly you can usually get your bait up through most of them but if you have open hooks there are times when you just have to break the line. I broke off a nice bass based on the way my rod bent who came unbuttoned down in one of those trees. I also broke off a Neko rigged senko also in that area being too impatient trying to get it loose.

Anything over 5 is a very nice fish. Good job Vinny!
Thanks Dan……..For a little bit, I thought maybe I had a cat because it kept pulling out drag and I was in deep water and it never came to the surface. Then I got a glimpse of the fish and felt a lot better and even better when it was in the boat.
