I was looking at the underside of the kayak, got some scrapes. With increased use, I can see this causing more damage.
Looking to protect the flat bottom underside. I currently have the berly keel guard installed on the bow, but was wondering about options for the bottom flat areas. I think some of the scrapes and scuffs have come from loading and unloading on my diy trailer.
I've seen a post about painting job weld on the bottom. Seems like alot of tubes. Can anyone recommend an adhesive strip or strip that's proven with a proven adhesive, something that won't peel back after a couple uses.

You could be the first but rhino lining is starting to cover all kinds of things. They do the tops of rv’s now and include lining all the plastic housing on the top. Might be pretty awesome to have them do the bottom on your yak? I had some pretty deep wounds in my hull from beaching it on shore over the years but never had any issues. Only down side to adding anything on the bottom including keel guards is increased drag.

You can buy some thermoform plastic called Kydex and glue it to the bottom areas you want to protect. There are quite a few guys that demonstrate the process they used on YouTube.

I did originally started with a couple strips of black gorilla tape, but the cement ramps and fishing often pretty much tore into it, so I just bought a Berley Pro keel guard for my PA 12 and so far it’s been great.

The best thing about wearing out your Kayak is getting a new one…updated, better features, better hull design, extra thick pads under the seat posts, increased tackle storage, prolly the next gen will all come with electric motors and programmable fishing charts in the flush mount Fish Finder.

Marine Goop will hold kydex in place....until you're dead and no longer care.

I think you meant JB Weld, not job weld. Marine epoxy comes in larger sizes, see https://bramptontechnology.com/product/ ... DgQAvD_BwE .

I have used this stuff for other things, it works well. There are lots of other marine epoxies out there that should work well too, including slower curing epoxies.

I assume your kayak is fiberglass-epoxy construction, in which case this will work well. If it is a less expensive kayak using polyethylene or other low surface energy plastic, adhesives do not bond well to that.

I ended up going w/a Burley pro and marine goop. So far its held up for 2 seasons. I have been wanting to add more guardng on the bottom of the kayak as its fairly flat.
With water levels so low everywhere, ive had to pop the wheels off to launch or land and have got a few nice scrapes and mini gashes here and there.
I was thinking of something like dual racing stripes down the bottom front to back, bed liner type protection. Don't know but on my to figure out list.
