Fred died a while ago (2000), the show then was run by his son Bart and eventually called the Bart Hall Show. It was going to be just a boat show anyhow this year.

I liked dropping by the vendor booths, picking up some deals and sitting in on some seminars. I am a float tuber so I don't have an interest in some giant expensive boat although that's where the money is for a show.

I went to the Bart Hall show a few weeks ago in Long Beach there wasn't that many vendors or people there. Was not surprised the Del Mar one was cancelled. I am looking forward to the Pacific Coast Sportfishing show in 2 weeks in Costa Mesa. It has really taken over for Southern Calif fishing shows. It will have 10 times as many vendors, plus in 2026 it will be at the Del Mar fairgrounds.

I stopped going to the Fred Hall Show a while back, once vendors started leaving. The Covid thing definitely assisted putting another nail in the coffin.

In the early 90s, we used to go because that's where you could find great deals. And every year, we seemed to see less and less. When a manufacturer is show casing a new bait and you ask them where you can purchase it and they shrug, it's kinda wack.

Have lotta great memories of going to the show when it was in Del Mar for many years. Getting up there very early before they open, get in and get out of there before it got crazy crowded. Used to find some great deals…. but through the years it never was the same so I stopped going.

I used to go to the FH shows quite a bit in Del Mar, then went to a few Long Beach shows. Usually found really good deals on tackle, line and reels. Deals became harder to find the past few years and you could get thru the show in an hour.....just wasn't worth it anymore $$$ after paying for parking and entrance fee. I suspect Bart needs to reinvent the Hall Shows or end it. PCS sounds great, may go this year.

I went to both the Bart Hall show and Pacific Coast Fishing show this year and there was no comparison the two. The PCH show was a million times better. It had ten times more booths, people and ten times better attitude. The booths that were at both places like Turners, was way bigger at PCH.

We went to Pacific Coast Fishing on Saturday. I agree it was a million times better than the Hall show. People seemed happier and friendlier, $12 to park vs $20 at Del Mar. Met some people we know through Instagram fishing pages and had great conversations. There were actually good deals on gear and clothing, I was very impressed with the deals most of the vendors had, compared to Del Mar where everything seems double the price or more. I love Fishing Syndicate and their designs, they were selling t-shirts for $10, as opposed to $25 at the Hall Show. There was room to wander and not feel like sardines in a can.
