Anyone ever fish Olivenhain Res?

Post by SD92119 »

I had a chance to fish a couple private lakes this year (Palo Verde, Lake Emma, etc.), all by invitation of course. My question to the community is, has anyone ever fished Olivenhain with permission? And even if u fished it without permission I’d love to hear your story without getting into anything too incriminating.

First rule of being a ninja fishing fool, is that a ninja never tells a story! hahaha

In all seriousness, I've only heard of SD Water Dept guys that may or may not have fished Olivenhain.

You would have to pass through the haunted forest to fish there.

I’ve never fished it, but a ton of kids I know and just have heard of are fishing it right now. Many kids are posting their fish from there on Instagram. Kids have been fishing it from February till right now. Been hammered this year for sure. And it’s always a very very good bite. No skill involved.

I remember going up there back in high school and we were impressed by all the cameras and security. We hiked back down rods in hand but never even made a cast. This was 10+ years ago

So much crime everywhere with little to no consequences yet you wet a line where you’re not supposed to, they treat you like a felon….

As a buddy who worked parking enforcement for a law enforcement agency said, 'we target people who can actually pay their ticket/fine.'

'Why are we going to ticket a crackhead?'

Que sera, sera.

FIshed it with the shock boat shortly after it was filled. We determined it was mostly silverside, bluegill and green sunfish. We went to Hodges a couple weeks later and relocated about 50-60 FLMB into Olivenhein to balance the ecosystem.

I would love to fish it but I would be one of those guys who could pay the fine. A few years ago, I rode my mountain bike there in the evening and got a warning notice on my car windshield when I got back, saying the park was closed and not to park there after closing time again (I was parked on the shoulder of the highway). So if you do decide to fish it, have someone drop you off and fish at night during full moon when you don't need a light and wear camo clothing or dress like a homeless crackhead. Probably spectacular fishing though.
