Re: 12/9-Murray

I’m still posting at least almost every time I hit Otay, just updating my existing thread with pics and info. I feel like all SD knows about that bite now just based on the number of people hanging out in that spot

Re: El Capitan Dec 8

They’re eating the jig down there for me, but it’s been a grind. Lots of slow fishing and grinding for a couple of bites. Sounds like winter.

Re: Strollin' Otay

Still going, fished from 5:30-9 this morning and landed 9, lost 5 including a BIG fish (minimum 5) that I watched eat my bait, shoot straight down and break me off.

Also very cool to see @Pourboy out there this morning. Was a super fun short morning for me before I head out to band rehearsal.

Re: Success at Otay!!!

https://youtu.be/FSARziSc2ak

Thanks all for the recommendations on where to fish on Sunday. I did end up going to Otay and met Corsoenthusiast (SP?) out there. Shortly after the sun came up we and about 30 of our closest boats, tubes, yaks and shore guys were on the fish. It seemed that everyone ...

Re: Success at Otay!!!

Nice job out there and enjoyed the video as always!
It’s fun to try something a little different, especially when it works. Actually @CorsoEnthusiast the other year told me using Damiki and hover rigs and I was picking up some bass on those rigs also. It’s amazing how many fishing techniques can ...

KillinTime wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 2:21 pm Nice bite for this time of year. Great Video! Is Otay Arm the only bite or is Harvey going off too?
Thanks for the post and video=)
There’s fish back in Harvey’s too. It’s pea green soup back there right now.

Re: Success at Otay!!!

Thanks to Jeremy's ( @CorsoEnthusiast ) posts here I'm gonna give the technique a try too, albeit at Murray today. It's been pretty slow there but gonna see if I can coax a few nibbles with these lol. As always thanks for sharing your excellent tips and videos!

Re: Otay 12/22

5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

Christmas at the Canals

As has become a tradition for me the last couple of years, I made a visit to the Imperial Valley on Christmas Day in search of some green and brown bass.

Hit several different spots with no luck, and finally about 1:30PM my brother and I got to the last spot. We started on opposite sides of the ...

Last fish of 2024

3 poundish fish, at El Cap on a crankbait. Was fan casting with a 12-15 foot diver as I was kicking to the first spot and she smashed it on the second cast. Couldn’t make a pattern out of it. The water is so low right now that to get into any depth in the front of the lake you’re out in the middle ...

Now that made me look forward to something and hopefully some big fish right around the corner for all of us. :-)
Supposed to be colder temps and rain coming in Feb and March. Hopefully that means a little more water too.

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

Really slow for me both from tube and shore. Having to grind for a couple of bites. My last couple of Cap trips I covered a ton of water and got nary a bite. It’s January for sure.

Re: You should have been here yesterday!

At least I don't feel so bad now. I think I may hit Miramar in the rain Sunday, just because I can.

Sunday is smart, the rain will help the air quality at least. Tomorrow is my day to get out but I may skip if the air quality isn’t great. I have my gear ready to go and a plan for a little ...

Daiwa Zillion SV TW - 8.5:1

Selling a Daiwa Zillion SV TW. Reel got orphaned when I sold some rods recently, time to move it to a new home where she’ll get some use.

If you know, you know, this is a high end JDM baitcaster with Daiwa’s SV Boost spool tech for cast control (IMO better and longer casting than Shimano’s DC ...

Re: Skunked but....Otay 2/2

I got a worm bite about 10:15 in the old parking lot area and I had my drag loosened to pull out some line while I was retying. Swung on em and didn’t get the hookset.. That was enough to make me feel alive and fish another 40 minutes anyway.

Pleasure fishing with you gents! Let’s do it again soon ...

Re: Skunked but....Otay 2/2

Really enjoyed the pic!
What we have here is basically a Bass All-Star Team photo of some really great bass fishermen!
All I know is that the tough bass fishing you experienced today was not because of a lack of talent.
Geez......I keep looking at the photo and the bass must of been lined up ...

Re: I know it's totally my fault...

When we were all fishing Sunday I was chatting with Doug AKA @Early release , and told him that I couldn't honestly remember the last trip where I got skunked....well.... Not only did I jinx myself I got the whole group too. DOH!

So I returned to Murray yesterday determined to smell better, and ...
