El Capitan Dec 8
Hello all,
Not too much to post here, but Vinny is right, there's not a lot of bass activity on the site. Went to El Cap on Sunday morning. Decided I probably was only pedaling about, so didn't go at dark and wait in line. Got on the water about 0730. It was still cold out and the water was about 55F. Seemed like the water was lower too, the kayak launch was quite muddy.
Went around the areas in sight of the launch and then back toward the dam. Turns out I had a decent day. I only brought my BFS stuff and pretty much planned for small cranks and jerkbaits. The Megabass X-70 in silver was the ticket for me, and I picked up a few fish from 1-2 pounds. What was nice was it warmed up and the lake was glassy smooth at 1000 when I loaded up. Didn't see a lot of activity from others, I think most of the boats hustled to the opposite end of the lake. Nice day to be out, just have to lower the expectations on numbers. Have fun out there.

Nice job out there Dave. Always a little bit tougher as the weather and water temp gets colder.

They’re eating the jig down there for me, but it’s been a grind. Lots of slow fishing and grinding for a couple of bites. Sounds like winter.

Definitely winter. But still amazing to be out on the water in December and catching fish without staring into a hole cut into the ice, which I did as a kid...
