Have had a lot of really good days lately so I suppose it was time for a reality check. Took the drive up to Hodges hoping for some jiggy piggies since that’s my favorite place to drag a jig around.
It was a gorgeous day out. Water temp a balmy 82 and apparently the fish thought the buffet was ...

Re: Reality Check - Hodges 8/24
I was out there on a tube as well from 6:00-9:30 with only three bass for the day. All on a drop shot fluke dragged on the bottom as if fishing the bay for spotties. I launched out of Hernandez and fished that side of the peninsula. Water was chocolate milk and absolutely full of carp on the muddy ...

It’s Been a Minute..
Hello angling amigos, it’s been a minute since I posted here.
Work and band stuff is keeping me busy… oh, and so is fishing ;)
I have a couple spots I’m admittedly not gonna talk about here where I’ve had success in the last month.
As for the ones I will gladly talk about, have been out to Cap ...

Re: It’s Been a Minute..
Nice report bro.... good to hear otay is still hitting like normal ( great in early morning and late afternoon) the first picture is asking for a lizard to be thrown in that open corner 😆 thanks for sharing
I thought I would 100% get a frog fish in there. It’s pretty skinny water and it’s ...

Re: Looking for a big boy tube
Will second the Prowler. I was 5'11" 315 when I got mine. No issues with the weight capacity for me. Love my Prowler.

Megabass Destroyer P5 Daemos & Daiwa Steez A
Thinning the herd a bit here.
Up for sale is my Megabass Destroyer P5 Daemos. If you know, you know. High end JDM craftsmanship. 7’2” F5 (MH) power, extra fast tip. Daemos like the rest of the Destroyer P5 line is extremely light and sensitive. It’s a great “junk fishing” rod - will throw bottom ...

The grind at Cap
Have been visiting Cap a lot more recently with the bite at my other regular spots slowing down for me the past few weeks.
Made one trip in the tube, back on 11/1. Fished from open until 11AM and managed to find one bite out off the end of a long point in 25'+. Thought I'd find more that way but ...

Re: Almost mid November…
Looks like a lot of us were there this past Saturday! I got a limit from shore, with every bite coming between 5:30 and about 6:15.

Strollin' Otay
Otay has overtaken El Cap as my favorite local body of water this year. Hadn't been in a few weeks and decided to make an early morning run in the tube.
Got in the water well before sunrise and was greeted by some busters and an early catch on a small subsurface walking bait. Threw a 110 Jr for ...

Re: Strollin' Otay
Round 2 this morning was even better than round one. The fatties came out to play this morning. Couple on a bladebait to start the morning, a clone sized one and a chunky ~ 4pounder. Surface activity picked up and I immediately went to the fish roller. First cast, my bait got hammered and my drag ...

I'm gonna cheat and change my vote after the last few weeks LOL. My favorite bait this year, responsible for my big fish of the year and lots of my most fun catches of the year is the RAID Japan 5" Super Fish Roller. Who says you need sonar to hover stroll? 8-)
