Fireworks going off...in the A.M.

Post by Mcfish »

I hit my home lake today, not sure I've ever fished on the 4th of July...but it was well worth it! I was on the water before sunrise and Fisheromen was already into fish! We headed over to an area we got fish last week and it was on! Before 7:00, I already had 18 fish...and I'm thinking Fisheromen was close to that total! I was throwing small spoons, tiny flukes, and a gunfish...until the fish trashed my treble hook on the gunfish! Once the sun was on the water, that was the end of the frenzy, but it was a crazy fun time for 2 hours at least! I ended the day at noon with 28 fish, with 4 over 3lbs mixed in! I didn't get the size I got last week, but being in the middle of a busting frenzy for 2 hours was a crazy good time!

Wow!….Great job out there!
Morning fireworks when it involves pulling
in lots of bass sound a like a blast. Glad
you decided to take a chance and fish on
a day(holiday)that many guys don’t.
It must’ve been pretty quiet on the lake with you and @Fisheromen catching bass with me 38 miles away ha ha ha. Thanks for sharing and tight lines always buddy.

If this is where I think it was, there was a boat on the water, lol. Heard a bit of commotion about it several times by multiple visitors

Definitely a session to remember! I had 15 in the same 7:00 time frame! One particularly frustrating thing happened. Even though I use a short mono leader on my Gunfish Rig, the trebles got thoroughly tangled in my 8 lb braid! I did not want to take time to tie a new leader with fish crashing, literally, all around me. So I put the Gunfish aside and picked up my mini-fluke rod. The bass wanted that even more than the walking bait! The small single hook was probably responsible for three nice fish coming off right at the net. Crazy fun!

I think I was the first to inquire about the boat...was told the holiday voided the no boats on fridays rule...so coming straight from The Man, I can't argue with that...plus, I know the boat owner..so I'm not taking either side...smart!

You guys have certainly mastered that lake. It's been a pleasure watching you work it when I've had the opportunity to come out when you are there.

I learned many years ago, when you think you've figured out a lake and the patterns....it bites you in the booty! You've figured out your share of lakes!

Top water baits early, they were slow to start but once they found it 3 1/2# and up, biggest was a 6.20. Moved onto deep cranking and free rigs. Had a drop tied on but never ended up throwing it
