El Cap Nov 2 report
Got out on El Cap nice and early with Chris, Jeremy and Dan. Also saw Robert and his Father. Early morning wind was very light and variable. Water temp was still pleasant at 65-66. That always says top of the water column to me, since that's what I want to hear. Worked along the west side heading north and picked up a nice 3.5 on a little swim jig. Got a couple other fun size bass and then a 2.75 pounder on the popper. Fish of the day also came on the popper, at 3 pounds 10 ounces, which was a fun little battle on the BFS baitcaster. There were busters all morning long, but they just weren't cooperative at all. I hooked one and lost it as fast as I hooked it. Not as many as last week, but a great time out there with friends.

Always such a pleasure to be out there fishing with you fine gents. My final count was 5 on a combination of topwater and jigs. It certainly was a beautiful day.

I'm guessing you mean the 7/11, just a quick recommendation, after our fishing day we ate at the Mexican Restaurant in that complex, it's excellent and really well priced.Socalspartan wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 6:01 am Awesome! I’m at the gas pump right now and heading down.

Always a pleasure fishing with you guys! It’s slowed down the last couple trips out for me, but getting out with friends is always a good time.

This too! Los Rancheritos is excellent and their portions are massive.Early release wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 9:13 amI'm guessing you mean the 7/11, just a quick recommendation, after our fishing day we ate at the Mexican Restaurant in that complex, it's excellent and really well priced.Socalspartan wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 6:01 am Awesome! Re: El Cap Nov 2 report
Great getting out there and getting some fish. I ended up with 5 landed and a couple others came off. It was super fun getting out there. I got 1 jig, 1 walking bait and the rest on the magic swimmer. We ended up leaving around 1pm. Yes, the Mexican food was awesome! The bean and cheese burrito was so big that I had no intention on eating it all, but did. I paid the piper for that one. No dinner for me.

Nope, not a normal Sunday thing. Just forces brought us together on that day. Cheers!

Re: El Cap Nov 2 report
Hey Dave, I think we are scattered this weekend. I want to fish Sunday, but my bride seems to have some opinion on that, so I can't say what I am doing. I think Chris is bay fishing and everyone else is still to decide. I'll say that El Cap has been a very mixed bag, with some folks getting skunked. I'd bet on Otay for this weekend. I haven't heard anything happening at San V. Maybe Murray? Vinny, what's the latest there?

For years...... of course many decades ago, I would meet my buddy in OB and we would take his boat to El Cap. We would fish all dayJWall wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 8:09 amVery highly regarded with the locals, glad you tried it!Early release wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 9:13 amI'm guessing you mean the 7/11, just a quick recommendation, after our fishing day we ate at the Mexican Restaurant in that complex, it's excellent and really well priced.Socalspartan wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 6:01 am Awesome! till dark, then stop at the Mexican restaurant in that complex you were talking about and eat Mexican food. I used to use the pay phone
there to call my girlfriend (no cell phones back then) and let her know I would not be home till late. Then drive all the way back to OB
and I would help him put his boat away. Exhausted... I would then drive and finally get home around 9:30pm or later and then we would go fishing the next day. It was crazy!!! But lots of great memories back then and never had a bad meal(or was it because we were really hungry?..ha ha).

Hi Vinny, I pretty much only can get a couple things there, and pretend I'm still a vegetarian although it's a pleasant fiction since the bean burrito or tostada is full of pork lard. I think it's legitimately good. Can't believe your circuit for fishing. I need a nap after a morning fish session.

Your nap comment made me remember one thing I forgot to mention in my last post. My buddy John would actually kick back andEarly release wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 4:22 pm Hi Vinny, I pretty much only can get a couple things there, and pretend I'm still a vegetarian although it's a pleasant fiction since the bean burrito or tostada is full of pork lard. fall asleep or nap in the boat for hours and I would keep fishing non-stop the whole time. Later he would wake and we fished till dark.
What also was funny was that on the way back to OB after we ate I actually was pretty tired and wouldn't talk much and of
course John would notice it and keep asking me if I am ok as he knew and many know that I seldom am quiet....ha ha
