8/4-Mixing it up at Murray

Post by VinnyBass »

Got on the water around 7:20 and was thinking of flippin' the tulles, but with bass breaking the surface here and there, that flippin idea never materialized. It was frustrating to say the least
as the bass were up and down fast again so instead of wasting lots of time chasing them(most were pretty small) all over the lake, I decided to fish plastics. After picking up a couple small ones on a senko, I started thinking how @Mcfish always kids me about changing baits often, so being in kind of a weird mood,I decided to see how many bass I could catch on on different baits or different color baits.
It was pretty fun as I ended up landing 14 bass(most were small)on 7 different colors/baits:
5 bass on a 5" purple senko
2 bass on a pumpkin 4" fat senko
2 bass on a 5" Texas Tilapia colored senko
2 bass on a plum berry roboworm,
1 bass on a double tailed Yamamoto grub
1 bass on a small Gunfish
1 bass on a Sammy.
(Kind of bummed as I had one on a fluke but she shook it off on the jump)

Biggest bass this morning was 3.50lbs on the small Gunfish.

Good job buddy! I've always said there's more than one way to catch a bass on any given day...you prove that all the time!

Thanks Robert and tight lines to ya.
Ok...lets take a look at this so MCFish can understand it:

First of all the Roboworm color is Plum Berry(I never bought a worm that said it was pink)
Oh yeah, it does say "Straight" also...ha ha
McFish is just jealous that this worm also works at the lake of D & K. :-)

I like the way you did your photos in groups of 3. Very convenient for the viewing public=D
I bet the bass 100% thought they were hitting a nice bluegill when they saw the fat senko.

I tried something different in the pics just to show the different baits or colors used
and thought it would be easier to view. It sounds crazy, but there are actually times
when I get kind of bored and even though if a bait is working, part of me wants to see if
I could entice another bass with something else or a different color. Then I know that when
the bite is slow on one bait one day, I remember a few others that worked and I try
them. No guarantees in fishing....but just a little quirk I have.
Tight lines. :-)

I have the same disease man. Since I retired I fish 3-4 days per week (shocker I know). I like changing up baits, even if something is working. It's fun to see what I can get em to take. That's not to say I haven't totally ruined a good bite doing that though lol

I just glad you went fishing and nailed them on my Birthday. I did my 64 mile Birthday ride, it gets tougher every year. 1 pic from the halfway spot. I surf fished today with a large South Swell for two Corbina and a Yellowfin Croaker and 90 pounds of weeds. Weeds pull hard in a big swell. Lots of fun. Kids got squat.

Looks like you got a lot of exercise on your birthday and hope it was fun. With that many miles, I would most likely have drove my car ha ha ha. Yeah, the weeds in the ocean can be really heavy. Anyway, take care and tight lines.

It’s all about the Float Tube and the Kayak. Peddle and kick. That and my Doctor told me after I retired, “you can’t just sit and fish all day.” I don’t think he has ever kicked his Float Tube to the Back of Hauser before Sunup or fished for Bluefin out of his Kayak.

That's a good day of surf fishing in my book. STELLA!
