No Mas Wednesday's
This battle was lost but the war is still on. June will be the last month to fish Wednesdays at the Big B. Barrett will be open only on Saturday and Sunday for FY 2026. I believe that will be the norm in the other seasonal lakes. At least we got the FULL attention of Council on the many issues concerning the City Lakes......and they said they are very concerned.....we will see.

Re: No Mas Wednesday's
Thanks for doing what you did.
It's really sad that an area that could be a destination for world class freshwater fishing is so poorly managed. I guess it's good that those people can't close our ocean, they'd figure out how to mismanage that too.
And yes, Barrett fishing has been great.

Re: No Mas Wednesday's
U r exactly right, the final budget for FY 2026 is on June 10th. With all due respect I will not reveal my sources, but I believe them to be very credible. I wish I was wrong. But, moving forward there is a lot of work to be done to insure we have freshwater fishing access.

Forgot to mention that the issue(s) regarding the closing of limiting days of Murry and Marimar is still under consideration.

Re: No Mas Wednesday's
What’s the reason(s) for these reduction in fishing days? I thought the City wanted to make money or is this the case of the more we open the lakes, the more, we lose (money-wise, staffing, operating expenses etc)?

They have to a point. MPAs. I do think in moderation that they help some species. But I know what you mean.Early release wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 9:31 am Thanks for doing what you did.

Re: No Mas Wednesday's
Has anybody mentioned that perhaps they should charge $1.00 to park, the walkers and joggers included, a monthly or yearly pass could sold also.
There would a lot of money coming in, enough to keep lakes open

All lakes have a day use fee, even for walking/hiking. Problem is not everyone pays their day use fee.......vito1023 wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 7:24 am Has anybody mentioned that perhaps they should charge $1.00 to park, the walkers and joggers included, a monthly or yearly pass could sold also.

Recall T. Gloria!
His 2nd goaround as mayor isn't going very well at all.
$268 million upside down on the budget & part of his solution is to cut services like fishing days & having all fire pits removed...

Re: No Mas Wednesday's
I don’t think that’s correct. You can go to Murray walk around ride bike run whatever he’ll get charged anything park and you just start walking. There’s many lakes that are like that. There are a few lakes that I know that you have to pay to even come to park so then you can walk Santee Lakes, is one, but I don’t know how many that you charge.
