Hi all,
I relatively recently (late July '25) ended a roughly six-year hiatus from bass fishing. I didn't stop fishing in general, as I'm an avid fly fisherman and fish saltwater with conventional gear nearshore and within our bays from my paddleboard, but why I ever stopped fishing for green bass ...

Building back up…
Over the last week or so, I’ve been mentally prepping for some more freshwater fishing. I spent most of the summer in the salt, and after a few months away from my local ponds my confidence was really lacking. I also had a tough time justifying the extra drive time to hit freshwater when I had the ...

Re: Building back up…
If I was a smart man, I’d just stick to spotties and the surf. My building tackle collection would probably be less than half of its current size too… but there’s something about those green guys.

1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?
I decided to take my kayak up to Miramar this morning and throw a wide variety of swimbaits.
There was only one boat that was launched and
no kayaks and not even a float tube. Add the fact that there are no trout stockings planned there, I knew it was probably going to be tough. I mixed it up with ...

Hey, you’re outdoors on a beautiful January day in San Diego. If you fish it they will come.

Re: 1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?
Vinny, didn't you get a good one on a swimbait at Murray a few years ago, or was that a jig? Off the floating fishing dock, if I recall...maybe it wasn't what you consider really big?

Re: 1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?
I know they stocked Murray recently from my sources. I wonder if Western Outdoor News just mixed up the lake. I have a degree in journalism, which doesn’t mean that people including myself can’t make mistakes. Hopefully there will be a trout stocking at Miramar and If I hear anything about a trout ...

Re: El Capitan 1/16
This came just in time! Planning on fishing El Cap tomorrow. I’ll be tossing the ned rig, but I just picked up a new setup for my moving baits that I have yet to break in, so hopefully I’ll be able to get on one or two crankbait fish as well. Thanks for the intel, and tight lines!
