Re: Your BFS setup!

Thanks to Dannicus, I have ventured into the BFS world. I bought an ARK Gravity BFS reel. At the moment I have 25lb braid paired with a 10lb fluoro leader. I know I could get lighter but want the extra size to fight the bigger models and high catch rates at Barrett, etc.

Like my reel/line, I haven ...

My BFS set ups.

After much research into BFS techniques and equipment I am loving my BFS choices. My reels of choice were chosen partly on budget since I was not sure that I would like this type of fishing. But I do absolutely love this type of fishing on our highly pressured waters. I presently own and would ...

I will add I have straight 6 lb fluorocarbon on one rod (this caught my 8 1/2 and big cat fishes) and 8 lb braid with 6lb on the other, I just added it to my gear.

Re: My BFS set ups.

Theres another benefit for BFS fishing also and that is it's easy on the body. I have a bum wrist and I need surgery to fix it. With the reels so smooth and the way I can cast underhand or lobing the bait and it doesnt bother me nearly as much. I still get the distance maybe not as accurate but at ...

Re: BFS jig review

Thanks for the input. It is truly hard to beat the Bitsy Bug. The saddest part of that being that they have been discontinued by Strike King. I guess the rest of the world didn't get the memo on how awesome they are. Get them while you can!

Re: BFS forum

Nice work on the BFS section. Thinking about the 80s, when I was a kid and longingly looked at the Shimano Bantam as if it was a work of art. Maybe it was. I had to make do with a couple Shakespeare 2499 spinning reels. I still have them and they still look brand new. I even store them in their ...

Re: El Capitan baits 4/19

Dan, I'm just starting to use softbaits a little more, thanks to @EL_prowler_619 and his lizard magic and @Pourboy and his patient jig teaching, so seeing the details really helps. Thanks!

Re: Otay baits 4/20

I used to kill it on the bigger TD Minnow back when they first came out in the 90s. Always had to have the ones that had SP stamped on them. Never had good luck on the floating ones. Be carful, they are very fragile and I can't tell you have many I cracked by hitting them on rocks (then they would ...

Re: BFS topwater at Murray 4/22

How do they walk compared to a larger bait like a Sammy 100?
I have a Sammy 60 and can't walk it with a regular bait caster to save my life. I need to get me a good BFS

Re: BFS topwater at Murray 4/22

Thanks for the offer! I reel right and cast right. I have a strange technic where I switch hands while the bait is in the air. Especially with baits that I want moving right as they hit the water. Or like a spinner bait where I want the blades spinning the instant it hits the water. I even find ...

Re: BFS junkies...top this!

That’s awesome, it’s unbelievable I use mostly 6lb test and I’m always worried that if I catch my double digit Bass that I been searching for would I be a good enough angler to bring it in.
My PB now is 6lb from Otay and it been a while, back in the seventies, and times ticking.
Thanks for your ...

Re: Bfs bass at otay

Haven’t been to Otay in ages was one of my favorite lakes back in the 80’s along with Hodges, we used to kill it in Harvey’s arm, I’m going to try and get my friend ( Ramona ) to take his now repaired boat down there. Curious if the trees way down Harveys are covered in water, what the level the ...
