I’ve still got *tons* of learning to do about these tough green guys, but I’m stoked to have the new setup in my back pocket for some float tube fun this year out on our waters. I’m also looking forward to seeing if I can run into any of the big panfish that are on our lakes. I should finally be getting myself out to El Cap soon, and hopefully I can also find some fish on the more traditional bass gear too

Building back up…
Over the last week or so, I’ve been mentally prepping for some more freshwater fishing. I spent most of the summer in the salt, and after a few months away from my local ponds my confidence was really lacking. I also had a tough time justifying the extra drive time to hit freshwater when I had the beach and 2 nice lagoons within minutes of work. I started looking into adding an ultralight setup to the mix, and found a great looking Daiwa Procyon UL at one of my shops over the weekend. I pulled up to the spot Monday morning with an 1/8 oz jig head and a 2” big hammer paddle tail and it didn’t take long to find a little action! Ended up getting 3 fish in the first 15-20 minutes, needless to say the confidence was found! Went back today and got 3 bites, 2 being absolute dinks, with a decent buzzer beater at the end.
