Re: Things are coming along - Kentucky
Set up a Bluegill Derby for the local Elementary School. Make it a Catch and Cook. That will thin out the ‘Gills and provide a Community Service. Win win.

Re: Tough couple of days but...
Just a quick thought. I wear a pair of SPF 50 Flyfishing Pants. They are coated with Teflon so they don’t stain, dry quickly, and best of all are cooling and I guess they look enough like Waders that I’ve never been checked.

Re: 9/3 Just Dinks/Murray
You went out in the High Heat Index and scored some Bass! Exactly what I intend to do tomorrow. One Caveat: My Buddy dropped his rod in the water when he flipped his Tube last trip and I marked the spot. So I’m going to “Stitch” a 10x10 foot area with an Egg sinker and Treble hook on straight 30 ...

Re: Torrey Pines skunk city
I’ve found that Perch don’t work so well for my crowd. Mackerel, Sardines/Anchovies, and Squid are my Top Baits for ShaRays. I usually use about three feet of 80 pound leader, and an Egg sinker that slides right down to the bait, making casting easier. Leader to line is usually a blood knot on the ...

Newport Harbor 9/19
This was a “redo” as I came down on Wednesday, got the Yak into the water, paddled out far enough to slip in the pedals. Snap! I had a chain malfunction, one of the pins had slipped out. Got the Paddle back out and back home I went. So I replaced the chain on one side, lubed it up with a squirt of ...

Re: Back2back sweetwater
Until you see a weighed 10 Pound Bass, all they are all rumors. My Buddy Perry Ten Pounder catches loads of Ten Pound Bass. Nobody has ever seen one. “I fish at night”, “You didn’t get any because the school moved on”, “I forgot my phone”. All the excuses. He’s a hardcore fisherman. I’m sure his ...

Re: Back2back sweetwater
Time Frame is correct, this one was from the Afterbay. Back then, every local Kid on the Lake had Pics of Giants. The hot bait was a 4 inch white Mr Twister on a 1/4 oz jig head. This one was hooked on an AC Lure thrown with my Flipping Stick and a 6501c Ambassador Reel with 20 pound line. As it was ...

Re: Otay 10/12
I know the Launch Ramps are so handy. Slide right in and you are fishing, plus you can usually nail a Bass there before you get out. Ive been there, laying in 6 inches of water completely soaked, bruised and bleeding, after a slippery spot. It happens so quick. Leave the Ramps for the Boats, I just ...

Re: Braid and Leader Line
:) I’ve been working my way up. I mostly fish 30 braid, with 15 pound Flourocarbon or Maxima Clear for Topwater. I was just sick of getting my ass kicked by the big fish I hook often enough to start fishing bigger. Now I land the big Halibut, the occasional Angel Shark, and White Seabass that range ...

Re: Mission Bay 20/24
Did your shoulder pain kinda come up out of nowhere? Mine started with a little discomfort, then a popping feeling, followed by decrease in my range of motion. Very painful at the limit. For a while my left shoulder and arm were virtually useless. I went in for the various tests and it was ...

Re: Skiff Fishing San Diego Bay
The Sandies are usually farther down the harbor and fairly deep in the channel. We drift 1/2 leadheads, with the Tide. All White for Halibut/Sandies, Green/Red for Sandies, Spotties, Sculpin. They are on the bottom, stay in contact with it.

Re: King Tides - Week of 11/6
The secret to the big Tides is to fish the smaller of the two Tides that day. The fish are still all worked up from the big Tide but the smaller Tide with less current is more fishable.

Canyon Lake 10/31
Hit Canyon on the Tube this morning, for the first time in a while. it was nice and cool and the water temperature had dropped from a month ago. I Launched next to the Ramp by the Fire Station at 6:15 am. Starting up the rocky cliffs of the Ski Lake, I was bouncing a 1/8oz. Jighead with a ZMan Trout ...

Good to see you out whacking some Public Bass. They are the same fish, just hit harder from above. A little refined technique and you are Yaking Bass with the best of them. See you on the water…

Re: Harbor Island. 11/1
Just got to love those Bay Groupers. If you absolutely, positively, have to get bent, they are the go-to fish. Most of the methods are similar to Largemouth, in fact last week I got 7 Spotties on a Jig after lunch at Newport Harbor and then stopped at my local Park Pond, threw the same Jig for three ...

Re: Where are the bass?
Bass school up in the Fall. Sometimes all the Bass in an area will be in a group measuring 10 x 10 feet. With the cooling water, they dont want to move far. You pretty well have to hit them on the nose. You have to surgically search them out. My last trip had 20 minutes of fine fishing in 6 hours. I ...

Re: Mission Beach 11/4
Try adding some Cotton to your Mussels. You can really “ bag it” in the threads. Stays on plus grabs the Perches teeth upping your hook set ratio.
