King Tides - Week of 11/6

Post by jwacky »

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on fishing the king tides next week? Looks like forecasted wave heights aren't anything too crazy, which based on older articles I'm finding online indicate that the fishing should be manageable (kelp/grass notwithstanding), although some of the tides/currents have been pretty gnarly lately.

I may try to get out there one of the mornings just to see for myself but I'm wondering what I might be getting myself into...

My high tide limit is 5 - 5.5 ft. I'll fish an incoming up to say that range but not over, end of session. Never had anything good come out of fishing 6 - 7' tides.

The secret to the big Tides is to fish the smaller of the two Tides that day. The fish are still all worked up from the big Tide but the smaller Tide with less current is more fishable.

Need to burn some accrued time-off next week so maybe I'll head out to the coast, grab breakfast somewhere, and fish the tide as it recedes. I definitely do not have good experiences with tides over 5'. Not unfishable but generally a lot of stress/effort for an activity that I do to relax, haha. My brain is telling me 7' is no bueno, but my heart says try it and learn the hard way

Another option, I suppose, is fishing the bay for a bit.
