Re: Coronado fishing
My quests start from Anaheim, I was 0 for 9 before I was successful. My next quest is a Lake Trout out of Tahoe on my Kayak. I understand the locals up there get them on the slo pitch jigs over meter marks. I’m all for it plus I hear they are spectacular eating. Others on the list are Tiger Muskie ...

Re: Dec. 4-Quick River session
Update:
Turns out the Fat as Salamander Nightcrawlers went unused. I got to cherry pick 2 dozen Nightcrawlers out of the Bait Delivery Truck, for the price of a Starbucks Latte. I had them on Ice in a soft pack. They had a nice Float Tube Ride for nothing. I finally fixed my Bottom Line 2255 Fish ...

Re: Big Low tides
While chucking it way out there seems to be a common thread, I try and stay well back and fish the holes and troughs near the shore, especially ay low tide. I see the Guys with waders going chest deep and throwing way out. I fish inside them, often casting at 45 degree angle if not sideways even ...

Re: Mission Beach 12/13
Just a thought. When I was growing up we had a strip of ivy growing next to the street. It was full of Snails. I would gather up those maybe 20-30 at a time in the early morning. My Mom Froze them and when we went Surf Fishing, which was often, we would cut them in half with scissors and hook it on ...

Re: High end Bass gear in Salt?
I don’t have a lot of gear, over the years I’ve worn out my Garcia 308 and 300, replaced by a 408 and 410. Then Gold Series Diawas, followed by a Tournament 1000 and 2500. Those reels were bulletproof and are still fishable. I have 4 Stella reels, bought used over the Internet from Japan. They are ...

Re: Mission Beach 12/14
Those Small Corbina are called Cigars. If you seen one, you know why.

Re: Mission Beach 12/14
I have often wondered why I don’t see more Ospreys with Corbina hanging from their Talons. Then the pictures started showing up. It’s a fit made in heaven.

Re: Mission Beach 12/13
Redemption! I’ve had a lot of raised eyebrows upon disseminating this information. A few angry comments about sharing a secret bait, over the years. Thanks! I think it’s as good as Powerbait for Trout…Great for Fishing Bluegill with the Kids because the “foot” is tough.

Re: Finally Happened- South Bay
Dfishin post - I take my pressurized Bug Spray Squirter with me. Add a couple drops of detergent to break up the water tension and spray my Trailer after I park it. Takes two minutes. I have 100,000 miles on it, and thousands of trips. A little rust. Once a year I knock down any rust I see, and hit ...

Re: Water Conditions SD Bay and Surf
I know it’s going to be tough fishing with the rapid shift in water temperature it will probably take a few days for fishing to come around. Also the Bacteria counts go sky high in the Ocean after the rains. You probably don’t want to be breathing in the spray or wading around in that stuff.
On the ...

Re: Lessons Learn from 2025; Goals for 2026
Fish the inlets(River mouths) at dead low or high Tide for those elusive Halibut. Use at least a 5 inch white Swimbait to discourage the “Potato Chips”. It’s all about the Tide and the bite window is short most of the time, sometimes it never slows down.

Re: Oregon Brown Trout
Tough to feel the Wind in a picture. It blows right thru your clothes and chills you to the bone. I really learned the value of a windbreaker on my Northern Trout Trips.

Newport Bay
Went to the Harbor for a Float Tube Session with my Buddy Ian. I have 63 years on this Harbor and have it mostly figured out. If I say they are hitting 5 inch ZMan Streakz in Mud Minnow, on a 1/4 oz Jighead and I have some if you need one, you should prolly take it. He wanted a Halibut. In early ...

Newport Bay 1/15/26
Hit the Bay on an idyllic post Santa Ana Wind Day. Flat calm and glassy all day, water temperature was 60.1 in the lower Harbor and 64 in the back, by the Arches Bridge. Ian and I dropped into the lower Harbor, around 12:30pm, right next to the Balboa Pavilion and rode the outgoing Tide down the Bay ...

Re: 1-15 Miramar/Swimbaits/Fail...and cheating?
GOTFISH- I’ll weigh in here and say I’ve caught more Bass over 10 pounds on 5 inch Bass Assassin Style Plastics with a 3/16 to 1/2 ounce Jighead than all my other baits combined. I almost exclusively use ZMan Streakz now. Partially because I have gravitated towards them, mostly because they are much ...

Re: Trolling motor wiring help
Nobody chimed in, I’m surprised. First thing I thought was you may of had some corrosion on the Negative Terminal or it wasn’t tight enough. Assuming you had 6g Wire coming off the Positive and it wasn’t Hot, there had to be some resistance to the Electricity returning to your Battery at the ...

Re: Trolling motor wiring help
My experience came from running a full Electric Powered Bass Boat on Mission Viejo Lake. A 36 Volt Motor on the back with three 12 volt batteries in series, 1 deep cycle 12 volt battery running a 48x18 inch livewell under the middle seat plus the fuse box to the lights and radio. Then a 16 Volt deep ...
