Spent a lot of time throwing onto bass swirling around the surface feeding almost exclusively on small shad. Still exciting but then you start seeing that 90% of them are very small 8-12" bass. Every once in a while maybe a 2lb bass would jump but even then that was rare, but that is what keeps you out there. I tried lots of tiny reaction baits that normally work, but other than a few taps and somehow jumping over my small paddle tail fluke, none wanted to cooperate. After wasting too much time doing that I decided to toss worms and creature baits and picked up a couple small bass.
Then there was a slow period and suddenly found an area where I fished deep in the grass and started picking up bass which was good. What was bad, was that I missed at least 6-7 bites in the area where your line looked straight ahead but the bass was 10-20 feet the other direction deep in the grass so you could not get a good hook set. After many (did I say many?)choice words you would not want your mom or small children to hear, I started to set the hook a lot harder and reeled the bass like they were in a race to get to the boat. Anyway, I ended up landing 11 bass,,,,nothing big at all, but still had a fun morning out on the water.

It is a Yamamoto Psycho Dad craw bait. It is pretty soft and I like the way they made the claws.
What also is cool is on the underside there is a little hole there where you can put the tip
of your hook so it is more weedless.

Vinny stopped learning in the 90s...already knew everything! The only thing he doesn't know..online banking! He still makes 4 or 5 trips a week to do his banking....maybe a certain special teller????

I fished yesterday for 7, all small. First time on that lake in about 5+ years. I watched a boat dropping brush weighted tree limbs on one of the points. Don’t know who is doing it but I don’t think it will improve the fishing

Yeah...they were doing it for hours on Cowles Point. I know they did this years ago in a few areas, but it was crazy yesterday as they really covered that one point over and over. Later, I went over near the fence line across the lake and they sunk a few too shallow as the top of one was basically on the surface and I snagged 2 times on another tree.
I agree with you as I don't think it will improve
the bass fishing, but bluegill and crappie will enjoy it. I wonder how many lures will get hung up in those trees? Lures aren't cheap these days.

That’s what I was thinking…. maybe then they’ll lift the trees up later and get all the lures and sell them to help the budget for the city….ha ha

With all the tulles, I'm surprised they're putting in more habitat! I can't talk bad though if they're actually trying to improve the fishing!

If it isn’t Hardwood, it will just wilt and decay on the bottom. However, Hardwood will last a decade. In Louisiana, they pound sharpened PVC pipe into the lake bottom in a grid pattern. All point up, within a few weeks, algae covers the pipes turning them green, and Bluegill and Shad feed on the Algae. If you get hung up, just hover over the pipes and your lure comes free. Attracts lots of Bass, Crappie, Catfish to the area. If struck by a prop during low water, the PVC breaks, no damage to the Prop. I imagine same could be said for hardwood dowels, but prohibitively expensive.
