Arrived around 7:30a.m. Almost nobody out there, which maybe should’ve been a sign that the fish weren’t there, either! No takers for either the sand crabs or Gulp worms.
Got a few nibbles (I think), saw a few small rays, but left when the surf camps started arriving and the current was strengthening with nothing other than a relaxing morning standing in the Pacific Ocean.
Back at it tomorrow, although I’ve yet to catch anything in the morning there. Definitely gonna make the effort to walk the shore a bit more.

Re: Mission Beach 6/19
Sometimes the current can be your friend . Even a small trough or hole can hold fish that are just waiting for the current to bring them the food . Lazy bastards . Even strong longshore current can make a difference . If you see the current sweeping into the darker areas indicating even minimally deeper water, thats the spot . Fish the rip so to speak . Better luck next time . Thanks for the report . WR

Funky tides during times I like to fish so took this week off. Bonus points to you for giving it a go. You're putting in the time & over due to connect. Hang in there bud.

Like Butch said, at least you got out there. Here's a link to a visual display of the tides at Mission Beach which may be helful.

The fish at my local beach are "sand crab snobs" and seemingly will only bite certain types of crabs. Medium soft shells are the best followed by crabs with orange roe. I'd also recommend making sure the hook point is on the digger side of the crab and whatever rig you use, make sure there's minimal slack in the line to feel the bites better.
Looking forward to seeing your future posts!
