Got out for a late afternoon/sunset session last Thursday. Plenty of sand crabs but unless softshell or with roe, not getting hit. On the sand at 6am, an hour after the earlier minus low. Targeted hali's with swim baits for about 45 minutes but no takers, just one bump. Switched over to c - rig and got on to the perch right away. Pulled in 8 over next hour, usual 6-8" but one 10 that wrestled pretty good. All on soft shell ...

...and crabs were a little tough to come by but caught 6 perch (personal record for a session!) on both blood and camo Gulp sand worms. Surf was on the heavier side, little bit of kelp, but all in all a fun day on the shore...

Sometimes the current can be your friend . Even a small trough or hole can hold fish that are just waiting for the current to bring them the food . Lazy bastards . There are so many rods and reels to choose from. For me, Okuma's Celilo 9'6" ML paired with a 2500 or 3000 size spinning reel is a great value. The rod is perfect for perch, corbina, croaker and other surf species. I like the cork handle better than longer handled, East Coast style surf fishing rods.

New to area. 1st trip out was this morning.
Fished from about 6:30 - 9
Caught some perch and 1 halibut.
Perch on crabs, probably should of had a few more but was using a size 2
Halibut was caught on LC

Saw/spoke w/ 1 other guy fishing, he caught perch and YFC
