Re: San V from shore?
If someone in a boat drops you off on a
shoreline that is not steep, you may be ok. Otherwise, it’s pretty steep with lots rocks
and probably not the greatest place to fish from shore. Unless you fish close to the boat dock or ramp If that is allowable. I know others could pipe in on this question.

I agree with Vinny, not the best place to shore fish! Most of the places you can fish from shore have no real structure and are not real inviting to the bass. You can catch some but I think El Cap is a far better bank fishing lake! San V was a better shore fishing lake when you use to be able to drive back to the Aquaduct arm..it's a hike now!

Yeah back in the daywhen they stocked trout I used to walk back to the aqua duct and it was nice! I'd walk the shore line on the way out for a chance at a few bass. Now those banks are covered with huge gravel rocks.
I still see shore guys fish though from time to time.
I haven't been there for a while but when I'd go, I'd just rent a motor boat.

So many trees and stickups on that lake. You will burn through a lot of tackle.

Re: San V from shore?
In years gone by, we fished live shiners under bobbers and caught nice bass. San V is not the same now. Since they drew done the lake for the dam raising, the trees grew up along the shore that are now submerged. If you fish above them you may be okay. Like I said, try live medium shiners under bobbers above the submerged trees. You may get lucky, I did it once before the dam raise and caught 18.65 pounds with a five fish stringer. Bring some extra tackle,(hooks and bobbers and be prepared to respool your reel because you are going to loose a bunch of line form snags). I used to walk the shore to the first big cove go a little further to the first point and fish there.
Good luck out there.
