Otay, Murray, El Cap
Since I fish nearly everyday It'd get pretty darned boring seeing posts all the time so I cut back. Still, not wanting to see poor Vinny go into apoplectic withdrawals due to lack of fish porn here are a few pictures from last week's lakes.
I've been having a lot of topwater walking bait success at all the lakes early in the day and some awesome frog bites at Otay. Later in the day I usually switch to my little crankbaits, Ozark rigged Senkos, and Baby Brush Hogs.
I just saw an ad for a topwater bait called a Zoo Pup. It looks like a cross between a hard walking bait and a hollow body frog. Have any of you fished them? I thought I might pick one up and give it a try, it looks interesting.
Anyway, tight lines everyone!

Those weedless spooks look awesome. I haven’t got one but have wanted to. I don’t think you could go wrong.

You can walk those spooks through slop and weeds but the hookup ratio is not great.

Yeah I was wondering about that. Probably more like a frog, wait a few beats after the strike before setting maybe?Fisheromen wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 9:43 am You can walk those spooks through slop and weeds but the hookup ratio is not great.

I totally agree! I love reading everyone's reports. Not sure I'm as fish-crack addicted as you Vinny but still...VinnyBass wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 11:00 am Still, not wanting to see poor Vinny to into apoplectic withdrawals due to lack of fish porn here are a few pictures from last week's lakes.

I ordered a Zoo Pup bait along with with the this crazy looking thing called a Bone Doctor. I plan on trying the latter as a finesse jig trailer. I'll let you all know how they work out for me.

I would hate to see my hookup ratio on that weedless spook? Great idea anyway....Dannicus wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 6:40 pm I ordered a Zoo Pup bait along with with the this crazy looking thing called a Bone Doctor. The Zoo Pup is an awesome lure, especially with how high the water is at some lakes. You can pitch that thing up in the gnarliest weedy places and walk it right through itDannicus wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 6:40 pm I ordered a Zoo Pup bait along with with the this crazy looking thing called a Bone Doctor. Re: Otay, Murray, El Cap
Someone else made the same looking lure, which I bought and used, about 15 years back, but I think the plastic was too stiff, my hookset ratio was terrible. The idea is sound, for certain waters. ;/0Moose wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:34 amThe Zoo Pup is an awesome lure, especially with how high the water is at some lakes.
