After using a bunch of different baitcasting rods in my float tube, I have found the one characteristic that works best for me; a parabolic action that unloads slowly.

Could I make a rod around 7 feet long, based on a fly rod?
Alpha test: Tried a spinning reel on one of my budget 8/9 weight rods, tied on a quarter ounce casting plug and the tip action pretty good.
Pretty sure some of you have old fly rods with busted tip sections...I do too.
But if anyone has an old fly rod with thrashed grips or a busted reel seat that you're never gonna get around to fixing....maybe you could loan it to me.
If this project doesn't work out...I'll give it back. Including the sawed-off piece of the butt.
ThanCKs...
