Pause then keep working it. Unless you swing for the fences on a plastic worm, chances are it’s curled up on the hook, then I reel it in quickly to re set.

If you are lucky to have several rods rigged up, tossing a follow up bait is a good idea.
But, if the fish "has felt the steel," as in, felt your hooks, then it's probably not going to eat any follow up baits.
My favorite 2 baits to toss once I've gotten a strike on a reaction bait is a wacky rigged skinny Senko or a fluke.
