Stuff You Hear at City Park Ponds
I'll start.
1. "Are you fishing?"
2. "Are there actually fish in there?"
3. "Do you eat them?" "Why don't you eat them?"
4. "Can I have it then since you're throwing them back?"
5. "Did you catch that?! (While pointing at my swimbait)

Re: Stuff Your Hear at City Park Ponds
One of my favorites is...after recognizing that I am about to fish, fishing or coming in from fishing, the people that come up and ask ........
"What type of fish are in here?"
I then have to proceed to name each species while thinking in my mind that the majority of people who ask this type of question probably
could not identify most, if any of the fish I named. I still always try to be courteous, but thought about making a flash card with the types of fish pictured and just hand it to them and play like I cannot talk....ha ha. That would not work as @McFish, Fisheromen and many of you know....

"You can't fish here!" - yes it was legal
"Your torturing fish" - my right to fish without harassment is codified in law
"Give me your phone and wallet!" - happened to someone else
"Do you have any extra weed? What about a cigarette?" - if I had weed I wouldn't be employed.

Your right it could be a 10lb anything, like a 10lb bluegill, crappie, salmon, tuna etc.

OMG..That is classic!
Like whatever you say or were going to say in response doesn't not mean anything because his buddy caught a bigger one than what you caught or are going to catch. ( Most likely it was a 5lb bass anyway that his buddy assumed weighed 10lbs..ha ha)

“give me your phone and wallet!” “Ok, FA, FO”
“Do you have any extra weed or cigarettes?” While it’s not uncommon for the sack to be heavy, depending on how generous the source is, I’ve never seen a pack of cigarettes that actually had more than 20. Never forget the first time some scrub asked a buddy “you got an extra grit?” “Let me check…NOPE!!! There’s only 20 in there!! Go get a job!!!”
I mean, when was the last time you went up to a stranger and said “hey do you have an extra dollar?”

doesn't matter if it was five pounds, ten pounds or twenty. It was imaginary anyway.VinnyBass wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 8:42 am OMG..That is classic!

Another City Park classic.
Multiply the weight by 2. If it's a 2 pounder, say it's 4.

Re: Stuff Your Hear at City Park Ponds
that comic is the corvina crowd.
every 4-5 lber is claimed to be 7-12lbs. How come your 10s are smaller than my 5s?
everybody breaks the world record but no one cares to claim it. Too cool for that. Never a tape measure in the pics, even though everybody carries one.
lameness abounds

Scott, this is actually a much more accurate description of the Barrett crowd. “Look how many dropshot and senko fish I caught!!!!! Never hear anyone trying to learn new baits to try and catch them in ways they can’t on the other lakes. Just want to feel like all-stars. To each his own I guess

I got a new one today.
Them: Have you taken Jesus Christ as your lord and savior?"
"If I catch a 10 right now, I might contemplate it.."

Re: Stuff Your Hear at City Park Ponds
Father and son came up and thanked me for telling 'em about the fishing when I met 'em a couple years back in the same area. "And my son's been fishing here ever since. Jeff, show him the picture of that six-pounder you got last month...." (Son shows me a pic of a two pounder.)DarkShadow wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2023 5:04 pm I'll start.

Re: Stuff Your Hear at City Park Ponds
I got another one:
Whenever you land a fish, someone always says, "Looks like you've got dinner!"
The other day, I saw some dude making a video for his YouTube Channel, you know, the one where everyone always say, "Like and Subscribe!"
I'm seeing more and more of that.
City Pond Math, I'm telling you, every city pond abides by it.
