El Cap 11/30
Total of 7 in a half day of fishing. I saw a few busters, but was unable to get them to rise on my walking baits. Got a couple of jig fish, all the rest came via a small crank bait. Biggest was 2.5.
Granted it was a bit of work finding a bite, but I did mark a lot of fish deep in 30-50 feet of water. Personally I don't really like fishing deep water, and the associated fizzing. Still, it was a gorgeous day, and a great way to spend time on the water.

Re: El Cap 11/30
I don’t fizz my Bass anymore. On an old baitcaster, I have a full spool of 60 pound Dacron, maybe 60 feet. On the end of the line is a barbless 6/0 hook, tied to the bend of the hook so it is upside down. To the eye of the hook is a foot long leader tied to an 8 ounce weight. When a Bass or Crappie need it, you hook that hook in the outside of their upper lip and send them back down. 90% of the time they only need to go down 33 feet.(one atmosphere)Reel the line back in and they are happy campers. Works great and no spearing them in the side.

We should get together sometime so you can show me the ropes on the bay. I've fished mostly Mission Bay from my tube, but the eel grass plays hell on my Bixpy. I'd fish salt more often but I don't like what it does to my equipment lolrobert_smith wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 8:34 am Great job Dan way to goI haven’t gone fresh bout a month been absolutely slaughtering bass at bay got maybe 100 last night in 4-5hrs at jetti had to leave cause arms got tired
