High Tide
So nobody going to fish high tide this week. Can't you just stand back a little more a cast. I am going out Thursday. At least I will get some exercise. I am going to but a chunk of bait on and see of something bites.

Re: High Tide
Problems from my limited understanding of local:
Strong currents
Lots of debris and salad
Wading out to get in casting distance of natural food source areas gets dangerous with high current.

Re: High Tide
Today & tomorrow likely your best windows for half way decent conditions. So Cal Forecast, mainly directed to surfers, has put out a Hazardous Conditions Warning for Thursday & Friday, surf 2-4' OH by afternoon & 2-3' OH Friday, tapering off over weekend. Good luck, stay safe.

Re: High Tide
Thanks for your comment. I don't think I have to wade out to far. Maybe just get my feet wet. Last time I was out there I would cast 40 yards but I would not get hit until It was 20 yards or less . Some of the bites came in real close to shore, knee deep water.Jteo wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 10:01 am Problems from my limited understanding of local:

Re: High Tide
I fished this morning and will post an update in a separate post.Nelson 1 wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 8:53 am So nobody going to fish high tide this week. Can't you just stand back a little more a cast. The flaw in your logic is that highest tides come WAY in, much farther in than you would ever normally see the tide. Nothing at all to feed on. For example, the high tide mark at Mission Beach this morning was halfway to the bike path!! A long cast from that mark isnt putting you anywhere near where the fish are. All sorts of debris gets kicked up and around, strong currents, etc.
Of course, that is for the high tides this week. Normal high tides of 3-5 feet tend to be fine in my experience. I dont know how to predict kelp/grass but that is the main culprit for my less successful days.
