Pacific Beach Thursday August 28

Post by PBChris »

While walking the dog I watched a guy south of Crystal pier catch a corbina in the surf, so I figured I’d go fish some. I fished the surf south of Crystal pier, mostly in front of the lifeguard station, from maybe 8:30-11:00 this morning. I went under the pier for sand crabs and got 20+ with roe, but only a couple soft shells, on one scoop of my colander. Grass and kelp fluctuated from only annoying to nearly unfishable at times. Landed 7 BSP, one of which was at least 13 inches, maybe my biggest. Landed one corbina, maybe 16 inches but kinda skinny, so all catch and release today.

Grass/kelp is never fun but at least landing some fish made it worth the effort!

A decent size bean & a slab perch, sounds like a productive session to me. Glad to hear you got on to a few. 8-)

What a nice tropical day! Decent fishing in San Diego, and dog walking on the beach, too? Winning.

Sounds like a fun outing. It is curious that with all the crabs around, then any corbina this time of year would be skinny.

Good size chunky perch; bean looks like ben on a diet. LOL. Thanks for the report.
