7/12 Failure to launch
Left for the lake at 3am. Japatul Police with flashing lights says to back to the 8 freeway side so I did and it ended up having a road closed sign. So I went home back to bed and when I got up I checked for updates and seen that people were at Barrett. So I headed back out and figured out what was going on. Now it is 10am wind is howling at the lake. So I did not put my tube in the water. I fished from shore the rest of the day. Pigs produced over 20 fish, then went to the dock fished from shore. First cast fish on and it kept going. Moved to the dock and it continued. I got hot and tired so I went to my and took a nap for about 90 minutes. When I got back on the dock there was Theo and his Dad. Good to meet them, Theo was doing his thing hooking up. When they were taking off and Theo noticed I had casted where he was fishing. He said you fishing my spot, I said yes, but I promise to not catch any of your fish just mine. Fished till the end and had doubled on what I did at Pigs.
Now the sad it turns out there was a massive shad die off during the winter according the guy that fuels the boats. A lot of bass lost there color and very skinny. I caught 1 that should be over 5 but it didn't weigh 3 lbs.

Re: 7/12 Failure to launch
There is no need to double drop shot!!!!!! Give the fish a chance to servive. Please....there is enough fish to use a single barbless hooks and still catch plenty of fish.

Re: 7/12 Failure to launch
I catch 2 at a time or I catch the other next cast makes no difference. Makes no sense (survive)! I loose plenty of fish with my barbless hook or hooks.

Re: 7/12 Failure to launch
It doesnβt hurt for fish to die there. It helps.

If you're going to go there, I'd argue there is no reason to drop shot at all, at the Big B. Personally, I leave my fairy wand at home when I dish Barrett. But, to each their own.Radar135 wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 9:48 am There is no need to double drop shot!!!!!! Give the fish a chance to servive.
