Murray dinks and clones 6/30

Post by Dannicus »

First day back from vacay. Hit Murray as the gate opened. Caught perhaps a dozen but all were of the smaller dinks and clones variety. About half of them were topwater, and the rest all came courtesy of small crankbaits.

Like I said, nothing big, but it felt great to get back on San Diego water. It was fun chatting with @VinnyBass who stood his ass on the dock next to the launch ramp. Evidently he was too lazy to actually get on the water and fish, but his mouth is never to tired to work lol. Love you brother! I've missed you all actually and it's nice to be home

Dan, I was your WELCOME HOME COMMITTEE. :-) ....and so great to see you back.
Went fishing this morning(did not see you) and clones were playing. Glad you had fun and I was just too hot
and kind of beat from lack of sleep to go get my stuff yesterday. But I can still talk a lot..ha ha
Anyway...Take care and see you soon.
Tight lines always. :-)

He's back!

Has VB actually opened the gates at SD lakes for anybody here? Sold them permits? Or better yet, been seen at 2 or more lakes at the same moment? I’m starting to think he’s omnipresent.

Murray fits like like a old glove. Like a Small BFS Glove, but still a glove. Glad you got out there!

ImageFished here this afternoon for the 1st time ever. Miramar gate was closed. 1st Tuesday. Had to audible, Murray it was.
No idea where was good, just got out and hit the cove across the way from the launch ramp. I seen some 4/5# cruising but they ignored or scared away from baits. Pretty tough go 1st time out. Got one on a minnow, missed 1 on a minnow, 2 on a drop shot. Was throwing some topwater but zero blow ups, bummed me out, I just wanted one on a top. Seen lots of fish on the graph, but they were very skittish

Tons of shad in the water and bass were just eating them pretty exclusively and seemed to focus on the shad rather than topwater baits for me an my buddy this morning(7/1). Threw hard topwater baits on lots of busting fish and only working Flukes below the surface, a few other reaction baits and plastic worms did the trick.
A weird morning for sure, but it will only get better and topwater action will definitely pick up soon.
Tight lines. :-)

Yeah the old one was getting pretty rank around the head band. Haven't figured out an effective way to wash a cowboy hat yet haha, so I picked up a couple more on while we were in Arizona.
