Enjoy your public lands while you can

Your public lands at risk of being sold. Public lands only shrink, never grow

Enjoy the sierras before timber harvested for export and foreign mining companies close it off

Zoom out and it shows a good deal of Cleveland National Forest in San Diego for sale too including large portions of the Mount Laguna area that people hike and bike in.

Some of the areas are in the few spots where San Diegans can go to see decent sized trees in a forest in the 1st place. And as mentioned, once land is sold, public use disappears for good.

This includes the core of volcano creek golden trout territory, kern river rainbows and the entire east side of the kern river valley and East Walker! I've already done my part but contact your reps in the senate and house. They are going to destroy our heritage trout!

So much support for our government not selling public lands. Yet, how did you vote? ;-) How did your loved ones vote? Acting surprised is funny. Trying to act after the matter is even funnier.

Like my mom said the SECOND time i put a fork in the outlet, "Para que aprendas, cabron."

Yep, and they still stick the fork in the outlet wondering what the outcome would be.

I prefer Einstein's quote regarding insanity.

51% of the country voted for this. Grin and bear it. Hopefully we do better next time around, and make America really great again. And for those who did vote for this, please steer clear of this one. We already got your opinion.

I don't know that I'll ever forgive those people, but if they want to make good, it's time to clean up your mess and the rest of us will help. Factually, Trump voters accounted for about 31% of eligible voters in 2024. Only 63% voted and he got 49% of popular vote, majority my ass. The fact that 37% of people couldn't be bothered to vote is a whole other issue but I bet they're awake now and guess what it's on you too.
I also shared this on two other forums and facebook and from what I understand senators are feeling the heat so spread the word!

First, people complain there is no more space to build, there’s a housing crisis.
The bill hasn’t passed so everyone needs to relax. Crying about a lot of land none of you will ever step foot in or intended to but when it may be sold or is gone, will cry about.
If it ever does go for sale, it’s not going to be all bought at once. Probably most or a lot of land will still be available after we are all dead and gone.
You should all be crying about when Mexico SOLD all this land to the United States. Oh wait, a lot are except they think it was Stolen.

We're trying to keep it from passing so we don't have to cry over it. Some of my best times have been on public lands and I'm constantly exploring new areas. I went up into one of the areas for sale in Idaho and drove to the end of a forest road and went blue lining up a stream catching native cutthroats on dries miles from anyone, fished the feeders of the little kern for little kern goldens, I hope to fish Monache meadows which is at risk as well. Don't tell me I won't be pissed off when I go somewhere and there's all of a sudden a new gate and no trespassing sign or an oil derrick or mine.

Let's look at it from an economic standpoint. Outdoor recreation is about 2% of GDP($545B) We can still lease this land and have long term income from it. I have issues with how little they're charging for that already but we'll move on. Currently BLM lands generate $252B, National Parks which are tiny in comparison $52B. They will auction it off in massive tracts on the cheap. Estimates are 100B for 235million acres that's like $425 an acre and we will never get it back. Under leasing, they could log it, mine it, restore it and log it again in 50 years. Who's going to want to go to Sequoia National Forest to recreate when everywhere you go including some critical habitats are destroyed?

Maybe the Indigenous will be able to get some of their ancestral lands back. Smells like Yellowstone.
Maybe some wealthy naturalists will buy up land and “save” it. Who knows. None of us do. Only speculation. Could be some opportunity to buy your own little wilderness spread. Better than the government owning it.

The Trump administration said on Monday that it would open up 58 million acres of back country in national forests to road construction and development, removing protections that had been in place for a quarter century.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced plans to repeal the 2001 “roadless rule” that had preserved the wild nature of nearly a third of the land in national forests in the United States. Ms. Rollins said the regulation was outdated.

“Once again, President Trump is removing absurd obstacles to common-sense management of our natural resources by rescinding the overly restrictive roadless rule,” Ms. Rollins said in a statement. She said the repeal “opens a new era of consistency and sustainability for our nation’s forests.”

Yeah they'll use public money to build roads into their secret billionaire ranches and then gate them right after. :x There is no situation where this ends well for the average joe!

I'd love to give the land back to the indigenous as long as they let us still recreate there. I know they won't trash it like the government would.
