Not what I planned.....

A quick change of plans. After just hammering them last week, I was sure I knew the pattern for today...nope! Started out throwing the same stuff as last week, only got me 2 small fish.I changed up some baits, didn't really help! I noticed a few busters out in the middle of the lake, figuring they were small fish, I tried to ignore them! After awhile I decided to check them out..smart move! I ended up picking up 17 topwater fish, the top 5 going 18+ pounds. It's always an adventure chasing breakers with a tube, but thankfully they stayed in a pretty tight area..even if it was the center of the lake. The bite stayed steady from 7:30-9:30, and somehow, I was the only person on that bite! I guess everybody was busy beating the bank! I got 23 for the day...tough to get back into the worm bite after chasing busters for 2 hours! Fly lining tiny flukes was my weapon of choice for the topwater fish...it's hard on the elbow though!

I wonder how many baits I would’ve changed
before I tied on a topwater bait if I was up there fishing near you this morning? Ha ha Anyway, none of that matters as It sounds like you hit the jackpot going out to the middle of the lake. Those are some nice fish and bet you were having a blast out there.

What is crazy is each week, things seem to change at that lake and you never know what to expect but being flexible
is the key as McFish proved.
