I went back today with Early Release and I asked the staff at the lake why the change. That was the exact reason. Too many fights between boaters and shore fishermen. Wow! It's fishing not gold mining. Oh well.galen wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:40 am Nice fish. My guess is the sign was put there to address the crowding during trout season. 20 guys in a tiny cove all throwing mini jigs at the same fish, then one guy in a boat parks there and screws it up for them. I gave up trout fishing a decade ago, I don’t want to compete against mini jiggers for stock trout.

So I just found out that I can set it to “Unlisted” which means I can put a link to watch it but it won’t show up in the search function or on my videos list. Let’s try.KillinTime wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 2:31 pm Very solid day for sure. Never hurts to play it safe. Too bad I missed the Video, just got home from Glamis and missed it =/

I’ll leave it up for a bit and then take down again most likely.

I watched it. Are those the only 2 females you saw on beds? Looked nice a nice day on the water regardless of fishing.

Yes, at least the only 2 of decent size that were not being fished by someone else. The day before Jed Dickerson broke the lake record with a 14-8.KillinTime wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 4:41 pm I watched it. Are those the only 2 females you saw on beds? I knew a guy that caught a 16 but he worked for the City of Poway. Didn't count!

Jed Dickerson, that the Lake Dixon Dottie angler, correct? Hard to believe that the lake record there is only 14-8. Probably higher if snagging bass counted (a little Mike Long poke there). Looks like the spawn is in full swing there and I am sure you will be going back soon.Pourboy wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:35 pmYes, at least the only 2 of decent size that were not being fished by someone else. Does that name ever get mentioned outside the months of January-April?KillinTime wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 12:23 pmJed Dickerson, that the Lake Dixon Dottie angler, correct? Re: Double Digit Bass! 2 Bites, 2 Big fish
Mike Long had the "Record" but there were other HUGE bass caught before that. A few years ago there was so much controversy that Lake Poway rebooted their bass record. They left out the guy who had the record before ML. I think it was 17ish. It went to 9, then up to 12+, and last year someone got a 14-2 I believe. So this is the new, new, rebooted, updated, new record. It should get passed soon enough. I know of at least 2 people including myself that have legit bass bigger than 14-8 from there.KillinTime wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 12:23 pmJed Dickerson, that the Lake Dixon Dottie angler, correct? No it doesn't, in fact you can leave out Jan and Feb, just March and April. All he does is bed fish.
Before the Poway fish, he randomly showed up at a lake I've been fishing regulary. I watched him do 2 laps around the lake then leave, didn't even pick up his rod. All he does and all he's ever done is bounce around the lakes during the spawn and bed fish.
I have very strong opinions about that fish.
Chris, at least you have video, although it doesn't show the fish hooked inside the mouth
Congrats on the double digit.

Fair enough! I actually thought about that after catching the first fish (10.22) and that’s why I did show pulling the fish out with the bait in the mouth for the second one. Seriously! I don’t want controversial catches. Plus when I got my PB I remember going back to Miramar the next week and standing next to people on the shore fishing who were talking about me (without knowing who I was at the time) saying I caught it on a live trout. I did set them straight by the way. Cheers!
p.s. The next DD will be bigger and without controversy. Cast To Catch With Mouth Shot. Just saying. Thanks for the support!

Ok, Update! I have prided myself on my integrity my whole life. Period! If people want to mess with me over a simple mistake, I get it. No worries. I’ll do better next time. So, that being said I’m going to leave this video as “Unlisted” with a new thumbnail and updated description explaining what happened. If you want to share this link with others that’s the only way it will be seen. I’m not concerned. If you don’t, it’s all good. Thanks all for the continued support. Cheers!

Why do I feel like anyone who has strong feelings about the boat being past the bout line is probably totally fine with bumping elbows and crossing lines along with the rest of the mini-jig all-stars. Now those are some “kooks”…

Haters will always hate. There will always be haters. Most of the time it's because you make them feel inferior or they are just jealous. Your videos are entertaining for a lot of great reasons. Keep up the good work, we all know a lot of effort goes into your videos.Pourboy wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 11:36 pm Ok, Update! I have prided myself on my integrity my whole life. Period! Fantastic fish! Fishes? Thanks for the inspiration Chris. And don’t worry about the haters — sounds like an honest mistake.

Re: Double Digit Bass! 2 Bites, 2 Big fish
You know, I think every Spring, we need to have a discussion on fishing beds, which almost reads like a flowchart.
From the start, you have guys who are adamantly against fishing beds. And I appreciate that. I also hope they appreciate the fact that when they 'blind cast,' they may be getting fish off beds. They just can't see it. But as long as they're not seeing the beds they may be inadvertently fishing, they can sleep at night.
Then you have, what we call the "Bill Dancers" (no offense to Bill Dance) who only pop their heads out during the spawn. You have various degrees of these Bill Dancers. There are some like the guys I've seen lately in our local ponds who will take turns hooking the same poor male over and over, and going as far as weighing it even though it's no more than a pound. They will post all over FishBrain(less) and other social media, hash tag half the world, and then we won't see them again until next year, as they are not very good bass anglers if they're not fishing beds.
And then you have everything in between. The snaggers who snag fish off beds because they didn't get hugged enough as kids and need the attention. You have the ones that will live well the male until they get the female to bite. The ones who will visibly see fish take their bait and chuckle and will not set the hook knowing the fish will spit it out soon, who just get a kick at seeing bass behavior first hand and are not there to disturb the process.
I think if done respectfully (and ahem, legally, looking at you Mike Long) bed fishing does have its place. Heck, everyone's ran into that big fish that you may give a once over during bedding season, knowing if you caught it, it'd go right back into the bed with not much harm done except for a nice picture for you to share with your buds.
But, if you're using the bass's vulnerability to placate your ego....or only show up during bedding season for your Likes....or use a treble as your favorite bedding lure....
