BFS fish keep getting bigger

Post by Dfishin »

Few bites, A few fish and 1 biggin. But not the right kind!
This is a view of the dang thing hanging around 15' for ever.
Another surprise was the water temp up 3 degrees from last Wednesday.
Oh and ignore the fat neck.

Those cats are always a mixed emotion. First you think you've got the next World Record on :D Then you realize its not a bass  Then you just enjoy the fight :D

It's that tick, thump, heavy felling then the fight. BFS is a blast. Not sure how it will do with lakes with a lot structure to lose the fish in.

I've fished BFS in every SD county lake that allows float tubes. Definitely have to learn to finesse them around cover. By far the hardest is timber (San V) but let's face it, trees are difficult even with a broomstick.

I can feel what you are saying about BFS gear and big fish. This last Wed on opening day at hodges i was coming back from the dam and all i had was a evergreen pc5 tied onto my bfs rod so i figured what the hell and started a slow troll along the del dios hwy side of lake. About 5 min into my ride my bfs rod doubled over where i thought it would snap so i released the reel and turned the pontoon around quickly. I thought I had buried that crank into a log or brush but soon found out the snag was moving. I played the snag as best I could with a loose drag and finally the snag showed itself to be a pissed off 10+pound carp that was hooked at the very top of dorsal fin. I could barely hold the fish in position without snapping my rod so there we both where me looking at that dmn carp and him at me so i took a swipe at him with my hand because he was to big for my net. He saw that coming and made a dash throwing that crankbait back at me with some vengence. Luckily it hit the brim of my hat and did no bodily injury and my pole was still in one piece. i must admit it was sure fun fight regardless if it was a carp or not.

We do it as a sport, so why not battle them with under size gear.
Glad the lure missed.

Could really suck if the lure didn't miss and you weren't wearing sunglasses.
