7/24-Back to Miramar for more!

Post by VinnyBass »

I only fished Miramar once on July 8 since they opened and had a nice morning with 11 bass until I felt really ill and had to leave
pretty quickly which was a bummer. Feeling much better and recovered from my heel pain(plantar fasciitis), I decided I wanted
to return back up to Miramar. It was a little slow at the beginning and then the action picked up. After some close calls, I finally
landed some topwater bass on my IMA Skimmer which was fun. Then later switched over to a blade bait and started picking up a
a number of bass down in deeper water and a few more on spoons. I spent 90% of the time out in the middle of the lake sticking
with the reaction bite and glad I did.
Before leaving I then worked a few worms in deeper water and had takers there also. Despite having at least a half a dozen come
unbuttoned somehow, it was a great morning and was very happy ending up with 17 bass by 10:30 a.m. and was off the lake.

Vinny you are my hero! I couldn't find a decent bite when I was there last. By the way, I met a guy fishing at Otay yesterday named Derek who said he set up your boat. He was throwing spoons and killing it. Made me think of you. Glad you are back out on the water where you belong!

Thanks and Congratulations as you killed it at Otay!
I wouldn’t even remember the word Miramar after a day like you had at Otay. Anyway, great job out there, my friend and tight lines always. :-)

False advertising!!! You're making it look like mere mortals could fish Miramar and just kill it. We both know that you have the Miramar Secret Sauce! Most people will never leave the tulles and never find the chosen land! We'll keep that a secret...between you and I....and a few thousand others! Beautiful fish!

It's because the tulles just look so dang bassy and they do hold a lot of bass.....and that morning I met a guy at the Iron Ranger who
showed me some nice frog fish he caught recently deep in the tulles. I guess I am just weird because I like exploring open water more
lately which can be very challenging, but at times can pay off.

You sure did great, we only got 3 and that was tough, and as you say we stayed in the tules, that lake has the most tules I’ve seen it brought me back to the early days at Lake Otay in the tules. I’ve got to explore some deeper areas now that I’m back to fishing some.
Thanks for your report I learned something again

The top water bite at Miramar was still pretty tough but hopefully it’ll pick up. Looks like you had a heck of a lot of topwater fun down there at Otay. I always think of you when there’s topwater fish to be caught. Tight lines always buddy :-)
