Gettin' grubby widdit...and swimbaity....

Nothing like a cool, crisp autumn evening, with the smell of plastisol in the air....

Made a little rack to hang fresh baits. Laying 'em out flat to cure takes too long...and if the tails are folded up, they can break. Hanging prevents that issue.

They're not ...

South Bay Bite Wide Shut

First day of wabbit season...at the south end of the Cays.

251130 RobHat.jpg

Water wasn't really moving yet....the crazy spotty bite should be going off any time....any minute now...just about now...heck, I'll take a consolation fish...

Re: South Bay Bite Wide Shut

Geez, with a title like that I was expecting to hear you say you got 4 or 5! I fished Saturday, murky water no current, slow for me as well. But then again my best days usually sound like others’ off days😉 I love my raft but I don’t like dock hopping, spend more time repositioning than fishing ...

Re: High end Bass gear in Salt?

I am an expert...in using less-expensive gear. I like Daiwa baitcasters, and mine range from CC 80s (about 70 bucks) to a Salamandura ($250). I use them all in saltwater, and just rinse after each use. They're all holding up just fine, and I use them in freshwater as well.

I do have a couple of ...

Re: Coronado fishing

The park in Bendo's map is where I launch my float tube. From shore, it can be terrific or terrible. If you find yourself in that area, there's another option: Crown Cove. Parking's free at 1573 Attu Avenue. A five minute walk to Crown Cove aquatic center. There's a marked swimming area, but no one ...

Clatterbaits...

Making some downsized chatterbaits to chase spotties. Been using some fairly large lures (2/0 and 3/0 hooks, 16 grams + trailer). This has a 1/0 hook and weighs 8 grams.

Herexs how it compares to the older model.

Re: South SD bay 12/17

It is crazy how the fog can limit visibily even a couple hundred yards from shore. Been there. As for worrying about your gear, buy a Daiwa CC 80. Two minutes to rinse and will never rus

Re: Clatterbaits...

4 inches long. Skinny as a bic pen. 10 grams/.4 ounces. Ultimate goal is to add a short skirt that covers the split ring...hollow core so the body can wiggle. Bigger chatterbaits chop through the grass and are 94.7% weedless. Hoping this will be, too.

Don't spit into the wind....

Or buck a king tide in a float tube.

Got a tow back across the bay from a buddy with a drill/prop setup on his tube. This, after the third member of our group reminded me that it was probably a bad idea to "go all the way over there unless you want to get an Uber back to your truck."

Oh well ...
