Re: Big Bay Sunday 2-2 Spotties MIA
A few recent trips ended with me having to leave biting fish to get back in as the sun was setting. So on Sunday I packed a strobe light so I'd be legal kicking home in the dark....and the sunset bite never happened. Tons of those little bay anchovies everywhere...and NOTHING chasing them. 5 ...

question for those of you into 3d printing...
I have an idea for a way to add a bill to one of the jigheads that I make. I would need some sort of plastic that's very transparent, and flexible enough to snap into place around the lure's body.
First question is, does anyone here have the capacity to make such a thing...material-wise?
And how ...

Re: Of Lost Swimbaits and Near Decapitations
The second best description of a fishery......topped only by this....
“The Carmel is a lovely little river. It isn't very long but in its course it has everything a river should have. It rises in the mountains, and tumbles down a while, runs through shallows, is damned to make a lake, spills over ...

Rods marked down at Santee Walmart
Yeah, whatever.
There are a bunch of spinning and casting rods marked down, and there were a few Shimano Sienna reels for a couple dollars off. But the Lew's rods caught my eye. Especially the 6' 10" Medium action casting rod for ...$18.50.
I do NOT need another casting rod, but these things are ...

Re: Kayak appearal
Found good deals on NRS paddle tops online, back when I was winter- wading in the surf to fish. The anorak style were the least expensive and worked well. But I have a 19 inch neck, so even the xxxl sizes didn't fit well. Just a caveat if you're a bigger guy...

Re: Tube launch vs Kayak
"I have seen people take a lot longer though."

I do a lot of layering at the water's edge...and taking stuff out of the bucket and putting it in the right compartment on the tube takes a minute or three. taking the shoulder straps off the tube and stowing them...extending ...

Tidelands Sunday
Only got seven spotties, but a nice day on the water.
Three of the bass were decent sized, 13 to 14 inches.

Didn't to get pics of all of them, but at the end of the day I wish I had, to show the color range. One was brown and white, this one was medium, and the biggest ...

That pic has to be recognized nationally if not globally. Literally a National Geographic moment. That could be the cover photo for the ca dfg

Re: Bay Fishing Planning
Like others have said, moving water is better.
I mostly fish San Diego Bay.
There are lots of tide charts out there; I use Tides4Fishing because I am used to it. And I like seeing a tide graph, which can tell you visually when the water's moving faster....which is a bigger deal for me because I'm ...

A browner shade of brown.....
South Bay Saturday.
Followed Gotfish around for a while on the Coronado side.
Managed 13 sbb, a short halibut, and the first one of these that I've got on a ScorcherZ tube bait (green).
And this one was much larger than any of the ones I've got on bait.

Re: Carp spots in San diego
Morena can be great...if you hike away from the parking lot and campground.
A friend does pretty well with flies...but I do not. However, you might get a decent not-a-carp if you're soaking bait.
